To the north, Savannah, GA, provides a low-key destination and a walking city known for mossy oak draping finely-manicured streetscapes, and 22 parks. On the coast below downtown Savannah is the quaint seaside village known as Tybee Island. The laid-back atmosphere can be a breath of fresh air, and it’s just over a 2-hour drive. To the south of Jacksonville Beach, St. Augustine can be something of a romantic getaway. Its historic Spanish architecture and public square are only matched by the delicious cuisine and niche local shops. St. Augustine is considered the oldest continuously occupied settlement of European and African-American origin in the country.

The north end of the city tends to be the most desirable. Rents and homes can be more pricey as a result.
