Your Guide to Apartments in Highland Square
Akron, Ohio's music scene may not exactly be a brimming hotbed of activity, but that isn't to say there still aren't a great number of acts performing their hearts out on a nightly basis in the area's clubs. With the recent closure of The Lime Spider (a mainstay of live music in the area), Akron-area apartment-ites have since slowly but surely made the transition to Annabell's Lounge. A decidedly upbeat, good-natured club that is quickly becoming the toast of the town, Annabell's is practically ground zero for Akron-area live music fans.
Most apartment-ites are on a limited budget, which makes Annabell's 'always free' show policy that much more appealing. Every genre is firmly represented on the ever-rotating weekly lineup, from rockabilly to funk, blues to punk rock. All ages matinee shows are reserved for Sunday afternoons, harkening back to the CBGB's years of old, while acoustic acts dominate the more intimate upstairs performance room.
A surprisingly eclectic beer selection is in effect, with daily happy hours offered and fifty-cent drafts (!) available all Tuesdays. The food offerings are limited, although their Monday night $3 steak dinner has become legendary amongst the regulars, and DJ's can often be found spinning both hits and cultish personal faves throughout the bar area almost every night. Whether it's a night out with friends, a quick drink after work on your way home to your apartment, or an insider's glance into the Akron-area music scene, Annabell's Lounge has become a premier destination for live music loving apartment-ites.
