Hands down, it's pizza rolls or the little pizza bagels for me. Followed closely by mini-corn dogs....mmmmmmm

My community says that I can host a BBQ at the pool, but I am having party planning block. Any ideas on a cool theme and how to get the word out to the community?

With the start of summer slowly creeping up on us, it is definitely time to have a BBQ. Try something like a "Dodge the April Showers Throw Down." You've also got Cinco De Mayo, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and Memorial Day coming up too. All of which make great BBQ days.
Then just ask the management to post a flyer and pass one out to the residents....or post it in the fitness center, etc. Just be sure to check with them first to see what they allow

Anyone else seem to be spending their entire paycheck on redecorating your apartment? My fam is coming to visit for Thanksgiving and it's a first for me outside mom's house. I've bought new pots, pans, curtains... heck, I even swept behind the fridge! Any tips for those of you who have hosted large dinner parties in your apartment? Tks.

Adopt an eclectic style. I don't have enough matching plates as I purchased a set of four and expanded with thrift store and yard sale finds. So play up on the eclectic end. Thrift stores are great for finding items-- vases and things to decorate your home. Old calenders and old National Geographic Magazines make nice "prints" for those second hand picture frames.
As for actually entertaining do ensure you have enough seating!
Vinegar is actually useful for cleaning and deoderizing. A clean smelling home goes a long way-- but with all the cooking smells you don't have to worry too much.
Ensure there are towels and extra TP in the bathroom. Add extra hangers to your coat closet or make a space for coats/footwear.
If table space is limited then find something else to place the food on-- a side buffet if you will. People can help themselves or you can serve them.
I hope this helps a bit.

The best advise I think anyone can give is to be prepared, but don't fret too much. It's your family. They should love and respect you whether your dinner party is a hit or not. Remember how mom liked things...and make it so. If she loved cleanliness, then make extra sure to scrub those counters twice as hard as before. Also remember that most moms will always find something you could have done better, so keep in mind that she is just trying to help her little baby out. Be sure to have enough seating for everyone who will be there and know that all the guests know what time to be there. Nothing is worse than guests showing up way early while you are still trying to get everything prepared and ready. Most importantly...and as our motto goes...HAVE FUN!!!!
