How do you deal with a neighbor that sweats profusely on the treadmill and won't clean the equipment when he's done? I have asked the office to post a message to please clean the equipment when you're done, but they haven't done it. It's really gross and unsanitary...

At our apartment community, we supply towels for the residents. Ask your friendly leasing staff members to buy a bag of bulk car towels ... they're cheap, and the residents love them!

Just take some air freshener with you to the gym and spray it all around the person. They should get the clue. Kidding. Tell the office to post a note about hygiene.

I think you should tell them straight to their face...."Wash up, fool! Don't be sooo naaaasty!"

I'd bring in some "stuff" or wipes to clean it. If your neihbor is in the workout room with you be as dramatic as you can with cleaning to get their attention... maybe even whistle and sing our favorite childhood song - "clean up, clean up, everyone-everywhere; clean up clean up, everybody do your share"

I'd ask the office to place a towel dispenser and a bottle of cleaner. Then I'd explain that you want to help them maintain the equipment while removing stench. Put it in writing and get it to the manager. I'm sure he or she will comply. If not, just bring your own towel and wipe it down. Disgusting, but you'll feel better for everyone.
