I'm moving to Tampa in the next few months and was wondering what I can expect to pay to move in. I'm looking for a studio or one bedroom apartment, around $550 for monthly rent. Upon moving in, can I expect to pay last month's rent, too? What is the average security deposit? What are the average costs of utilities? Thank you for any answers!

These elements will differ depending on the community in which you are moving. The best thing to do is do a search for communities in the area you'd like to move using our "Find Apartments" section by clicking the tab at the top of the screen. Then, call the communities you are interested in and ask them about their deposits, utilities, etc. Best of luck!

I need to move because I have lost my job, I have 2 month's left, can I find someone to take over my lease?

Many communities will let you have someone take over the remainder of your lease. First you'll want to check with your community manager to see if they'll let you and what steps they would like you to take in having someone take over the remainder of your lease. If you already know and trust someone to take it over, Great! If not, you can try posting an add on craigslist stating how long is left on the lease, how much it will be and your situation. Just be clear and honest with both your community managers and people who may be taking over your lease and you should be good to go. Best of luck!

We are 2 older sisters (late 50's) who are on section 8 housing. How can we find a place w/2 dogs (between 50-60 lbs) ? Is this an impossible quest?

That is definitely not impossible. There are a number of animal loving communities who welcome pets. Simply do a search for communities in the city that you are looking for in and give them a call to ask about their pet policies. Many of our listings will even tell you if the community excepts pets or not too. Good luck on your search!

I'm not sure about the area, but if you tell your potential landlord/property manager it is just you moving in and then five other people move in, you probably will be facing eviction, depending on your contract. I would be up front with your manager about the # of tenants.

Definitely don't tell them it is just you. Lying about or hiding occupants or pets can get you fined or even evicted. There are many 3 and 4 bedroom communities and townhouses out there that would be perfect for your situation. Simply use our apartment search tool and search in your city for 3 and 4 bedroom apartments within your price range. Then apply, but make sure to put ALL occupants who will be living there on the application and the lease. Remember...the lease holder will be held responsible for anything that happens to an apartment or "guests" that may damage it.

we are 3 students from the Netherlands and we are searching for an apartment. Is this possible to rent a furnished apartment during a one year period?

Sure is. In fact, a 12 or 13 month lease is the most common one out there. The challenge is sorting through all of the awesome apartment communities out there to to find an apartment that leases furnished ones. Try searching in your city of choice using our Apartment Finder tab at the top of the screen. Check within each communities amenities/features to see if they are furnished or not. You may even give a call to the ones you like and see if they have any furnished units. Best if luck!

Is there anywhere we can rent that will accept our 3 dogs (chow, american stafford terrier, and husky) and 2 small cats with 4 adults and 2 kids? We are all FAMILY and have NO WHERE to go it's been SO hard finding anywhere that accepts us all with our pets. We can't buy a home just yet. 3-4 bedroom would work perfectly. Someone help us please? Thanks.

Wow! That's a lot of pets. And big breeds of dogs. Unfortunately, your search will be difficult...especially with a Chow. Many communities won't even allow Chows, Pit Bulls and other commonly known aggressive dogs. your best bet is to search using our Apartment Finder feature in the city you'd like to move and call communities. Explain your situation up front and see if there is anything they can do. If you call a few, you are bound to find one that is willing to give you a shot.

How do i find the statistics about an appartment before i move in such as crime rate for that area?

Try going to the county website or city website for where it's located. Or just do a basic search on crime rate for city, state or zip code

How would I go about finding out what to do about my neighbor's smelly odors from their apartment? It is bothering me as a neighbor when I open my windows.

Uh oh. This is a smelly question. Odors are never good and I have heard horror stories of smells you could never imagine coming from neighbors apartments. I've had neighbors who had the smell of smoke seeping through the walls into my apartment. Neighbors who cooked all types of mystery foods that stank like you wouldn't believe. And neighbors who just stink. Unfortunately, there is no simple way of handling this situation. The best thing to do is to alert your apartment manager as to the foul odor coming from the neighboring apartment. They should be able to do something. If not, you could always knock on their door and politely let them know about the order or simply leave them a bottle of Febreze on their doorstep. Worse comes to worse...you could move. Foul odors really stink though! I feel for you
