So you're looking for a bar that perfectly encapsulates the culture of Charlotte to get out of your Charlotte apartment and enjoy? Head down to Coyote Joe's, a gigantic country bar and dance club that packs in more cowboy hats than an old-timey spaghetti western. It features three main bars, a cavernous dance floor and regular enormous crowds of all ages. As you'd expect, country dominates the music on offer here, but most of the time a great live band oversees the frequent line-dancers packing the floors. If you're not into dancing, you can take a turn on the mechanical bull for just $5 or just play some pool.
The club is on Wilkinson Blvd in the city's Steele Creek neighborhood, but it's a little hard to find. Parking is free, but there's a nightly cover charge which varies each night, but can be paid by card. Drinks are in the mid-price range, and there are beer tubs peppered throughout the club.
If you've never been there before, the club offers regular line-dancing lessons for $9 a head, and they also do regular night specials (Wednesday is "Ladies' Night"). The only negatives for some are that tap water is not free, and smoking is permitted in the club, so for any non-smoking apartment-ites, it might be best to avoid. Otherwise, this is a pretty relaxed joint that will have you practicing your John Wayne strut all the way back to your apartment.
