The city of Bensenville is in DuPage County, IL, with a small piece of the city in Cook County. The population is nearly 19,000 residents. Initially the area was known as Tioga, but it became Bensenville in 1873 when it was named after Benzen, Germany. A post office was established in Bensenville in 1873. The first white settlers came to the area in 1833. The area was first Indian hunting grounds, and eventually became a railroad village, taking over a primarily farming industry. Today Bensenville is nestled between Chicago and O'Hare airport.The Churchville School is a place to visit, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In Bensenville, IL, you can expect winters that are cold, snowy and windy. In February, temperatures average a high of 35 F, and a low of 19 F. In July, the average temperature reaches a high of 84 F, with a low of 64 F. May temperatures are an average high of 70 F. It rarely gets below -2 F, or above 92 F. You can expect partly cloudy conditions throughout the year. For those that like warmer weather, the best time to visit Bensenville is from the middle of June through September.

Vacation opportunities within a few hours of Bensenville including taking a trip to Manitowoc or Appleton to the north to enjoy the Great Lakes of Michigan, or Frederick Meijer Gardens to the northeast. Binder Park Zoo is directly east, while Devil's Lake State Park is to the northwest. Wisconsin Dells Exploratory State Park can be a day trip or destination for several days.
