"The word ""waipahu"" is derived from two Hawaiian words ""wai"" and ""pahu"" which means bursting water. Legend has it that the abundance of water in the area brought sweet rewards for all residents over 100 years ago. It was the commercialization of sugar cane plantations that gave economic promise to Waipahu and a new way of life to those workers from Japan, China and the Philippines."

How is the weather in Waipahu?

For long-time residents of the Waipahu area, they described the region's weather conditions as being warm and muggy in the summer months, but dry and comfortable for the remainder of the year. The average temperature of Waipahu is between 66-80 degrees Fahrenheit as the sky is clear and a steady breeze off the water. 

How do I get around town?

Waipahu is one of the beautiful coastal regions in the world. Still, the area can be quite congested with traffic, but Waipahu has one of the better public transportation systems on the island. You can get to almost any destination required within town by using the local bus service. For nightlife, Lyft and Uber are popular ride-sharing options in Waipahu. Newcomers to town should take a ride and explore the island in it's entirety.

Waipahu is a coastal community that is host to 13 vibrant neighborhoods. Unlike other island communities, Waipahu isn't stricltly a white or blue collar dwelling, it's a mixture of both. The majority of the residents came to live in Waipahu for the coastal environment. Their attraction is to acquire a plot of land that offers some privacy from the outside world. If this is what you're looking to live, then your best bet is to look for property in the Leeward Coast or Royal Kumia neighborhoods.
