As a graphic designer who happens to know how to program, Brandon McKinney provides a unique perspective on things as a Software Engineer at AHL. From his slowmo style of foosball to designing and coding user-interfaces with his JavaScript specialty, Brandon has his hand in many of the cookie jars at ApartmentHomeLiving.com.
In 1998, when Brandon received a graphing calculator, he learned the BASIC programming language and his love for programming computers to do more and more stuff for him was born, followed by a swift decline in handwriting skills. Since the early days, Brandon has developed using a wide variety of languages, including, Visual Basic, C+, Perl, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, ASP Classic (and reluctantly .Net), and Flash, to name a couple. While his focus has been primarily on web development, Brandon has also developed various kiosks, server-maintenance utilities, API utilities and plugins as well.
After hours, you can try to catch up with Brandon around Austin, but be warned, he's a bit sporadic in his extra-curricular activities. You might find Brandon anywhere from the local music store, or a show, watching a band to Zilker Park playing pick-up soccer to cooking a gourmet meal at home from any random culinary genre (mmmm...habaneros) or even a short drive away at the beach.
Brandon's favorite quotes:
"The two must abundant things in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity." - Harlan Ellison
"Great ideas often receive violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein
