Los Angeles Overview

The City of Los Angeles, popularly known by its initials L.A., is the most populous city in the state of California, United States. This beautiful and vibrant city holds many distinctions and many options in Los Angeles apartments that make it one of the best locations to settle and visit on the west coast. History

Los Angeles History

Los Angeles was founded in September 4th 1791 by Felipe de Neve, a Spanish governor at the time. It was founded after 44 villagers from the Mexican provinces of Sinaloa and Sonora came to live in what is now Downtown Los Angeles. Two of these settlers were Spaniards while the others comprised of Blacks, Indians, and Mestizos of diverse ancestry. The town was named El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles de Porcincula, meaning “Our Lady the Queen of the angels of Porcincula”. L.A. became part of United States in 1847 after being captured by US forces. At first, there were a handful of families in the town but the discovery of oil in 1892 massively fueled the growth of the city.
