It's a basic but comfy little place. shortly after moving in i decided to finish out the basement which was totally unfinished and is now the 600 sq ft apartment available here. I did most of the work myself and i'm very happy with how it turned out. i wanted it to feel warm and bright. the large windows are on the south side of the house so sunlight is abundant in the bedrooms. i installed a window in the living room wall to let the light come farther into the space, which is shown in the picture.
I had a young family living here for about 8 months and they installed a little desk top in the pass through area where the father illustrated his comics.
the kitchen is fun. it's easy to work in and has a lot of character with a big sink and a roll out island.
There is a lot of rough cut fir trim and accents throughout the space. all of this lumber was milled by my grandfather when i was very young. it's been waiting 20 years in the barn for a purpose. now it has a home.
the basement is pretty quiet but the house is situated near a busy road. there is some noise of cars driving by on Chautauqua.
There is wi fi but there is not a TV in the apartment, or upstairs. I wont restrict you from having a TV, but i will ask you to turn it down if i hear it. sorry, i'm super flexible on a lot of things, but not that. but the basement is really well insulated for sound, so it's never been a problem.
The basement has it's own entrance through the backyard and a little porch.
The back yard is available to use. it has a fire pit and wood. the yard is somewhat rustic. it doesn't have any grass, instead it has cedar chips (like a playground). I'll admit i haven't had a chance to landscape it much, but it's fenced in and relaxed. Rocco, the seven year old who lived here for a while, loved it back there because he could get is hands dirty and smash rocks with hammers. An oak tree shades most of it so it's nice in the summer. i have a little rope swing in the tree and i climb it sometimes. it's a good climbing tree. There is lots of street parking.
sublet, short term, no contract, monthly, furnished apartment
