changed later for any residents after us (which is fair of course) The individual water heaters in the apartments is both a pro and con, since it allows us to have our own hot water but it is smaller so our hot water does not last as long as it could. We have to share a washing machine and dryer with the building, but each apartment gets their own exclusive day to do laundry, with sunday being a free day (first come first serve) but if you ask your neighbors nicely, most of them are nice enough to give you the machines if they dont need them. The neighborhood gets a terrible reputation and I don't know why. If you like Mexican food this place is heaven for you! I am an American, and even I get excited about the food that gets served around here! Theres a man who sells tamales on the weekends (LOVE his homemade tamales) and during the winter and fall a man goes door to door selling Conchas (its a sugary pastry that he makes in different flavors. Strawberry, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Chocolate, even Orange!) And during the warmer months theres a food truck that comes by 3 days a week selling Elotes (corn, mayo, butter and cheese) along with sodas, chips, and various other deliciousness. And if you like dessert then you are in luck! There is a very nice guy who drives his own ice cream truck and sells all the usual favorites, and a guy who sells the fresh Mexican ice creams made from real fruit and ingredients, no processed stuff. I love this neighborhood so much, and the rent prices are just impossible to beat! a 2 bedroom apartment for under $900? You can't top that in this area! My husband and I have lived here for almost 2 years, I got my cousin and her husband moved in and they have been here for a little over a year, and we even moved in my husbands aunt and uncle, and even they love the area! It's a wonderful place to start off, and our landlord is hands down the nicest person ever. I'm not going to say this place is perfect, but it's great for the price!
