Disappointing experience
June 12, 2024I love historic buildings and wanted an apartment in this building the moment I saw it two years before I moved in. It was a beautiful place, albeit with thin walls and some water problems, and I had a very enjoyable time for almost 2 years. I was the perfect tenant, away most of the year, and always mindful of everyone and all the rules. I was even enthusiastically invited back any time when I gave my notice to leave. Before I left, I cleaned for 2 days. Apparently, I missed a few very minor ...spots (e.g., a handful of crumbs under a radiator), and they deducted $700 for 27 hours of "professional cleaning." No way this was legitimate. After checking around CDA I found that the normal cost for cleaning a small one-bedroom apartment was only a fraction of that. One day after I received my reduced cleaning deposit refund, the property was listed for sale at $2.6m. My apartment was one of 2 featured in all the real estate listings. The joy I had experienced in that apartment and Coeur d'Alene was ruined. My trust in the formerly friendly landlord and manager was completely eroded. Now that the building has sold, this is probably all moot, but I would recommend checking references from some former tenants closely before considering a move to this building. Lack of privacy, limitations of property managment
December 24, 2021Being that this building is so historic, there are missing aspects that other places provide. There is no noise barrier between apartments. Everything from doors opening, to people speaking and even neighbors using their bathroom can be heard through all walls in all apartments. The property owner and manager do very little around the property since the old manager left. Often lights are out in hallways and things do not get fixed around property.Reseña de Apartments.com
