You can't beat the pricing of Hawthorne at Oak Ridge for the area. Right by New Garden with lots of shopping and dining but not right in the middle of everything. Super close to the airport! The staff is nice and responsive and I love the events they do for residents.

New move in - 80 degree bedroom, no action by mgmt

Prospective tenants deserve to know what my 22-year-old daughter has experienced after moving into Hawthorne at Oak Ridge. She moved into her one-bedroom loft apartment on July 1. The only bedroom is upstairs and has two HVAC vents. From the day she moved in, one of those vents has not blown any air. During one of the hottest weeks of the summer, with outdoor temperatures approaching or exceeding 100°, the bedroom has consistently reached temperatures above 80 degrees, making it extremely ...

uncomfortable to sleep in. Maintenance requests were submitted on July 2, July 6, and July 8. Instead of fixing the problem, the requests were repeatedly closed as "Work Completed" even though no repairs had been made and the bedroom remained unbearably hot. Closing maintenance tickets without resolving the issue gives the appearance that problems have been addressed when they have not. My daughter is a full-time college student and works as a waitress. She should be able to come home and sleep in a bedroom that is reasonably cooled. Instead, she has spent her first week in this apartment repeatedly reporting the same problem while management has failed to provide a solution. The most disappointing part has not been the HVAC issue itself—mechanical problems happen. It's the apparent lack of urgency, communication, accountability, and follow-through. A basic expectation when renting an apartment is that the only bedroom will have adequate air conditioning, especially during dangerous summer heat. If management eventually resolves this issue, I'll gladly update this review. Until then, based on our experience, I cannot recommend Hawthorne at Oak Ridge. Future renters should pay close attention during their move-in inspection and verify that every HVAC vent is functioning properly before accepting the apartment.

Overpriced for the amount of space you get. I’ve asked for repairs and updates (cabinets Falling apart, the dishwasher doesn’t work well, gaps in the door frame.) I was told I would have to get a remodeled apt. For hundreds more a month. I had an incident where I was locked out on a very rainy day and office staff refused help.

Been living in the apartments for over 2 years and have had multiple issues along the way that we’re not handled correctly. Very poor management, the latest issue being that my water meter is not reading correctly, with picture proof of meter running while I’m gone. Management has not helped to resolve the issue and maintance will not or can not fix the problem, yet I am stuck with water bills that are 2 or 3 times the normal amount for the community, with no compensation or relief for THEIR ...

faulty equipment. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE, WILL NOT BE STAYING. STAY AWAY!

This has been by far my worst experience in an apartment. I moved here because the rent was affordable. It's true you get what you pay for. The staff does not seem to care about the residents needs. The water is turned off weekly for hours at a time. Amenities? Good luck with those as well. You will be inconvenienced weekly with God knows what. They don't spray or deal with bug control so your front and back patio will be a great place for wasp to nest. Trust me don't move here!

I've been living here for over 2 years now. As far as complexes go I would say it's about average. Since Hawthorne has taken over they have done some repairs and improvements. They seem to generally want to take care of their residents. They could give most notice when needing access to residents apartments though. But overall I say it's a nice place to live. The TWO good things that came out of Deerwood Meadows was meeting my boyfriend and the friendly maintenance employees Lou, Jeff and Maria. Besides that there are various issues we have had with the property. It is a waste of time to list all of them. One issue we had was with our neighbors. We have called the police and spoke with management about the issue. After a while management will ignore our calls. Let me be more specific, the general manager of Deerwood Meadows will not return calls to ...

loyal residents. More importantly this demonstrates a lack of concern to loyal residents that pay their rent on time. Due to their ineffectiveness and deliberate negligence we decided to break our lease. Some of our other complaints about the property would be loud music being played at an excessive level by residents, the mice issue, horrible plumbing – expect your toilet or sink to be clogged at least once every other week, poor insulation – which would lead to high electric bills, poor management of funds for the property which was demonstrated by painting the parking lot and not actually repairing pot holes. This is just a brief overview of the issues with Deerwood Meadows. I have lost complete confidence in their ability to take care of their residents.

WORST APARTMENT EVER

I moved here with my boyfriend a year ago and the office staff seemed nice and friendly. They moved us into the front loop of the apartment where more trouble seems to happen. We could hear EVERYTHING from our upstairs neighbors, including them fighting each other with the cops being called multiple times with no resolve. When we confronted the office they kept continuing on how they cant do anything for us. And if we wanted to switch away from these heathen neighbors it would cost us a whole ...

months rent. Not just this situation but we had MOLD in our apartment. Our upstairs neighbors left their AC running constantly which lead to a flood from the ceiling. When the maintance came to suck up all the water, they told us they can not do anything because there was also a leak behind the wall and mold all behind there. This wall that connected to our AC unit. As my boyfriend and I were friends with our next door neighbor, we discovered that they moved in a new set of people without doing any remodeling or anything about the mold problem. Also from the time we were living there they sprayed for bed bugs in at least FOUR of the apartments surrounding mine. If you have pets there are fleas infesting the yard. It was almost near impossible for me to get them off my dog without shaving her. Please do not move here and save yourself the trouble. All of the positive reviews are obviously from the ladies in the office.

I lived in these apartments for a year. We absolutely loved it there! I am currently searching for a new apartment and I do believe that deerwood will be the choice. I love the area and how close it is to the highway and to town. The office staff has always been very helpful. Last time we had the garden style 2 bedroom and it was perfect for our little family. This time we are looking at the townhome style. Cant wait!

Bang for your Buck

My husband and I had lived in apartments for about 4 years before moving to Deerwood. What got our attention here was that they had a townhouse for less than 800. With our last apartment we were in the middle and always heard our upstairs neighbors. That's apartment living for you. When we moved here I felt safe because it was not in a busy area and I think that this area is nice. The homes are older but for the price and location you cannot beat it. were able to save up money to buy a house. I do think that this is a great place. The office ladies are very sweet and would ask how my family was when I would pay rent or pick up my packages. When my husband would call for any problems that we had in the apartment they would take care of it. And they were not scared of my dog. All in all I was and am grateful for my experience at Deerwood.
