    I have lived here as well as 5 of my friends. Management is awful and if you call the owners they say that "They can do anything they want" and hang up. The front of the complex looks great. Look again. Drive to the back of complex. Check out the gym where you will find broken down equipment. Check out the media room, stairs, dog park, etc. You will not be impressed. These people do not care about the tenants. All they want to do is collect money. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. Does not ...

    We absolutely love this place. The management and staff are great and the Maintenace is always so prompt. You Read a lot of bad reviews but to be Honest there are always 2 sides to every story most of the people that leave the bad reviews are those that didn't pay rent so had to leave or those that didn't fallow the community rules and through a fit when got into trouble. I truly recommend Island Bay. P.S. The security guys are amazing.

    I moved from Frisco TX in Nov , signed a lease for 6 months , don't know what I am getting into, after living here for more than 6 months we love it and signed 13 months lease. Maintainence, Service is excellent view from our apt in front of the water is beautiful. we love Island Resort

  • Good location, but could use improvement

    Pros: -Immediately next to Moody Gardens, one of the main attractions on the island. -Has a fishing pier, boat launch, and you can tie your boat up along the little canal inlets. -Offers 6-month leases. -Pretty view from some apartments of either the bay, or the pond at the center of the complex. -One of the higher complexes in the area, so flooding is not a big issue. -Had electricity during the big freeze when nowhere else on island did. -It’s a place to live on island. Cons: -Constantly ...
    finding small roaches (the nasty kind, not the large water roaches) in my apartment even though it is kept clean. They list pest control on the rent charges, but I’m not sure that pest control ever actually comes, I’ve never seen a difference nor any person coming around to do it. -Apartment smells of smoke on multiple occasions because the downstairs neighbor smokes like a chimney and it seeps up into my unit even though smoking is supposed to not be allowed. -Worst paint job I have ever seen. They painted over everything with thick paint, including the cable connections on the wall and the door hinges which cracked and peeled upon being opened since they were caked with paint. Maintenance had to come within the first week to replace the cable outlets so I could actually use the internet that I had paid to have working on the day I moved in (maintenance was at least quick). -Manager seems to always be out of the office and hard to get ahold of. -Communication was great when I was moving in, but after that it was difficult to get in touch with anyone who knew anything when questions arose.

  • Office workers lies

    Alway document what people tell you in office. They will charge you something when you move out even if you polish the apartment from front to back. A lot of unsupervised children under 7 play around the boat landing. Lots of dogs off of their leashes. Amenities listed on apartment is closed except for the pool and it is closed most of the time.

    I moved out after several months of having a mold infested bathroom after reporting it and maintenance people coming in several times making the small leak becomes a massive leak…the office people sent a letter lying about maintenance people being deny entrance into the apartment after we begged them to fix the problem also none of the amenities listed worked for over a year only the pool. Many other problems the main thing is the lying we clean the apartment had photos and they still charged a ...
    cleaning fee .. if you decide to move her make sure you take plenty pictures because they are liars.

  • Mold in bathroom reported for over 4 months finally moved

    When I moved there pool was closed, exercise room never opens no club house available very slow maintenance also please take photo of maintenance person when they come in because they will lie and say you wouldn’t let them in if they can’t fix the problems. Black mold in bathroom. Major problems with security gates always open ..children always opening back gate or hopping fence children unsupervised by water and dogs not on chain. Dog wasted all over property.

  • Gone down hill

    This property was great under the last manager. The new manager not so much. You have trash and dog poop everywhere. You have kids running wild damaging property and playing in the roads. Parking is not controlled as promised so paying tenants have no spots. They brag about a gym that once you move in you find out it been under renovations for years. Tons of loud parties and grown adults who have no kids serve kids alcohol. Sad thing is the trash is friends with current management so ...
    nothing is done. Beware. You will pay a steep price for a headache. Oh and the good reviews are thanks to drawings for free rent to but reviews to make up for the real reviews so watch out for the fake good reviews

  • My family loves it here!

    This place is great. The staff are very nice and understanding, the property is kept up with and is always trash free. I've had no issues with my apartment since I've moved in besides a minor sink leak that they fixed very quickly. Me and my family constantly go fishing at the dock and there is even a lagoon full of turtles that my kids love to feed. On new years since the apartments are super close to moody gardens you even get a free fireworks show too! My only complaint is that the clubhouse ...
    has been closed for a while since they're renovating it, hopefully they will reopen it soon

  • Cockroaches Everywhere!

    They kept telling me they sprayed for bugs but I kept getting cockroaches. And they were HUGE cockroaches. I'm pretty sure they live inside the walls which would mean they need to tear down the walls to really get rid of them which they were not going to do. I contacted the staff to come to patch up the huge holes behind the sink where they kept coming in and they never did so I just ended up doing it by myself. Don't let the pictures and the "newly renovated" fool you. They just did some shoddy ...
    touch-ups and once the smell of paint finally airs out the apartment has a distinct old building smell. Mosquitos are terrible here and the apartment gets terrible lighting (killed all my plants). I hate to leave a bad review because the staff there was so nice especially the maintenance man but I hated living there and moved out a month early. A lot of my neighbors seemed to be moving out too, I don't think people stay here very long. If you still want to live at island bay stay away from apt 321 (my apartment) if you don't like roaches and only do a short term lease. Thank goodness I did because after a few weeks I was ready to GO!
