These apartments look very cool and have huge windows that overlook downtown! I have lived here for two years and have mixed feelings about the place, but I don't regret living here. The positives are that the neighbors are extremely friendly and social and can be found hanging out in the courtyard on any given night. All of the units seem to have their own unique style and anytime I ever have guests over everyone loves the place. The location is perfect and within walking distance to anything
...you want to do downtown- I have friends over every weekend because it is within walking distance to Oregon District and many other bars. The maintance guy is pretty fast about fixing issues in the apartment. The negatives are that these apartments can be pretty expensive with the utility bills (our electric bill is usually between $70- $100 a month, and we are pretty conservative when it comes to using electric), you have to pay for monthly parking, and the only internet/cable service provider that you can get is Time Warner Cable - in both units I lived in the internet goes in and out and sometimes the internet does not work in the bedroom farthest away from the router, and it is $65 a month just for internet alone! The walls are paper thin. I can hear my neighbors conversations, I can tell you what TV shows they are watching, I can sing along with whatever song they are playing, I can hear when they are in the kitchen and the cabinets are slamming, not to mention some other private things that you just don't want others to hear, so if you are a private person or noise bothers you, this probably isn't the place for you. Lastly, cockroaches. I guess that's what you get when you move into an old building. I am an extremely clean person, I never leave dirty dishes out, and I clean on a regular basis. We had a full blown cockroach infestation.. in one of the bedrooms! We told management and it took them about a week to get an exterminator to come out and take care of the problem, which we weren't too pleased about having to live with the creepy crawlers for an extra week as they quickly multiplied. So, if you can afford these cool looking apartments and don't mind thin walls, the possibility of roaches, not so great internet, and the occasional stabbing/shooting/murder in the always empty Arby's parking lot across the street, then I would highly recommend St. Clair Lofts!
