apartments also smell bad!!! All the time. The worst part was the staff in the office as well as the corporate office. We left a key in the door while we left to move some big things out of the apartment but we called the front office and asked them to hold the key for us and that we would be coming back soon...they changed the locks. So I had to go back the following Monday and get the new keys and I was missing stuff! And found a broom in the apartment that wasn’t mine so clearly someone from the staff had gone in the apartment and took things. One of the staff members even told me they were the ones that personally walked in there and did “the final walk through” of the apartment. Which we found odd because we never said we were moving out and our lease was up.Weird. Then their cooperate office got involved and actually told me I was a liar lol and then the story changed to “no one was ever in the apartment. It’s protocol that we change the lock for safety reasons,” and that safety reasons excuse might be true but every other apartment I’ve been a tenant in, they cannot change the locks or step foot into the apartment until AFTER the lease is up. Being 8 months pregnant I decided not to fight them and just sent my keys through the mail with a final notice that my husband and I were not coming back, but the office told us that if they could find someone to take the apartment before our lease was up that we wouldn’t have to pay the last months rent, and we would get our deposits back. Oh boy, were we wrong! When we talked to the cooperate office they asked if we had it in writing and since we didn’t we lost our deposit and had to pay over $400 for an apartment that were weren’t even living in for the past two months! They are really sneaky people so after all of this if you still want to move in, make sure you have pictures, video, recordings, and written statements (emails will be just fine) of everything, because they will try to screw you over.
