Lovely building, lovely staff, lovely location
March 3, 2026I lived here late 2022- early 2026. The building has a great feel to it and everything feels, and is, polished and well-rennovated, while they still kept the charm of the old building. My corner unit had amazing views. All of the staff, from maintenance to house keeping to the building manager are extremely helpful and friendly. The location is amazing. There is excellent access to music venues, museums, movie theater, parks, Akron public library, restaurants, and bars. There is enough happening ...around that you can have a fun weekend in the walking distance. There is also a really nice coffeeshop on the first floor of the building. Best apartments in Akron. Period.
August 26, 2025I have lived here for several months now but when I was searching for a place downtown, I immediately knew this was going to be the place as soon as I toured it. Lori responded to my request for a tour within a very short time of sending the email, and I was viewing apartments the same day. I had sent requests for apartments all over, mostly Testa properties in Akron like the Bowery, and the Goodrich, but it was literally months before anyone from Testa responded to my multiple emails requesting ...a tour. (I was already in the process of moving in to 159 when the Testa representative responded. The prices are market fair and lower than others because other apartments are jacking up prices and so lots of people I know are leaving places like the Bowery, standard on main, and others to move to this building. It has a perfect position, right next to civic theatre and lock 3. I can see the lock3 from my window and watch/hear concerts if I choose but if I keep the window shut, noise isn't loud enough to bother. Lori is very attentive and works very hard to care for every tenant, knows everyone by name and is constantly putting in efforts to make sure everyone is happy, it genuinely is a nice community and surprisingly very quiet. The building is very secure, you need key code entry to get in after 6pm and on weekends, a code to get past the 4th floor to the apartment floors, and of course a code for the apartment door, all managed from a phone app if you prefer (or entered manually). The amenities are great, fitness room, office space, trash chute on every floor. The apartments are well designed and beautiful inside. I love living here so close to the action but also quietly peaceful as needed. I can walk out my door and be right smack dab in the middle of the summer weekend festivals or walk to lock3 for whatever they have going on. Walking distance from bars, restaurants, pretty much everything you need (except a grocery store but that's the city of Akron issue and not 159). If you are considering moving to downtown Akron and 159 is an option for you, stop looking and choose 159 - before it's at 100% capacity which it is very close to at this point I believe.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

Friendly staff with a "how can we help" attitude
June 18, 2025The staff makes a difference. Lori, the property manager, and Monica, the bookkeeper, are great resources. As soon as I moved in, I was handed a welcome packet with things to do in Akron and Lori always knew what was happening downtown. Great Apartment
December 18, 2024Best apartment complex that I have lived in. Nice apartments with good amenities in the middle of downtown Akron. The game changer is the staff. Lori does such a good job making you feel like you are at home. My dog since he was 3 months old and I would visit her every morning and she was always such a joy to be around. August 14, 2024159 provided me with a MUCH needed three month lease when the 401 lofts would not and left me out to dry. 159 is an EXCELLENT place to live with excellent, kind staff who genuinely care about their tenants. Best property in downtown Akron
April 18, 2024We needed a place within walking distance of work in downtown Akron (the First Energy building) and decided to rent at 159 S, Main after looking at several other properties. The property is a great mix of modern (the apartment units themselves are stylish and up to date), old (the building was completed in 1911), convenient (it is connected to the Akron Skywalk system) and quirky (the building has a trapezoidal shape, not a rectangular one). The property manager is local – not remote – and ...she and her team really make the effort to get to know their tenants. You don’t feel like just another number on the books of some remote corporate entity somewhere. If our work location wasn’t changing, we would definitely be staying.
