Rockaway Beach is the perfect place to live. We do not have the New York City crowds that swarm to Coney Island and Jones Beach, The entertainment and eateries are not noisy and finished by midnight on the weekends and nine in the week. There was the little thing about Sandy the Super Storm that was worse than the worse hurricane I have ever lived through.
Our building is four doors down from the boardwalk. Sandy made walking up to the boardwalk easy by delivering it to our doorstep. The benches, ...
railings, lights, water fountains and even the life guard station were all at out fingertips to enjoy. There was however, a matter of lights and gas. Every day the community had to come together to the emergency generator stations to charge our life line to the world (our cell phones). But that is all behind us and now we are enjoying a new concrete boardwalk and all the homeowners are contemplating ways to get their homes 12 feet above the ground. Our landlord is wondering how to make-up the lost rents from the first floor unite. I am trying to get out of here and move to the Virginia Beach area to fade into the sunset with my beautiful mother.
