ROACHES AND BEDBUGS
November 2, 2022I am on my second year of living here and came across roaches in the hallway and when I went down to report it they said multiple people had already reported seeing them. I’ve had “pest control” which is the same dude who comes in a pretends to spray your apartment for 5 mins come out 3-4 times and I am still seeing roaches if not more since he sprayed. We have also had to get last minute sprayed for bedbugs because of other residents as well as bedbugs in the community center. Foreword: As a new resident of this property, this review is subject to change throughout the duration of my stay. Do… ... Be ready for a friendly community and neighbours, as well as amiable management ... ...Take advantage of the perks* of this building, should you move in Do not... ... Expect a cheap stay in a large or even generally average-sized unit ... Move here looking for a home-style unit, expecting the nights to always to be silent OVERALL 28 Grand is a smart, well-marketed property, geared toward a very specific audience. The location is great, central to everything but in my opinion this is a property meant for ppl w/ a millennial/gen z mindset. The units have a hotel / barracks / dorm feel but minus the books and class. You live with a full spectrum of residents, most are working, educated... everyone so far seems to get along. The walls are concrete, so you rarely hear other tenants occasionally there’s a dog bark off. (Most noises are from bar crawls and street traffic) If you’re moving to a downtown Detroit apartment these details shouldn’t be surprising. Location Capitol park is just outside the door and there are plenty of places to eat on the block. (Canelle, IGGY’s) other than space vs cost its everything you can ask for. Capitol Park also has a dog park. UNITS The units are furnished but small (260 sq ft), so think Tokyo apt small. Everything is brand new, practical, & well thought out. Also in comparison to overall size the apt has a huge window seat & large double bed. Also notable the hd tv, full fridge, microwave, in room HVAC , sizeable shower, rocket fibre, electric & hot water INC. No issues... staff go above and beyond for residents. Maintenance staff seem to always be ready, available and around. The move in process was very smooth. Cleaners come through once a day. LOBBY /RECEPTION AREA / SEC The lobby is modern with a secure key fob entrance with a call buzzer system. There is a 24/7 Security / Concierge desk in the lobby they’re awesome. My only complaints so far * While the amenities look amazing when touring, they aren’t operational due to COVID (Fitness Center, Outdoor Terrace, Community Lounge, Kitchen)Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Unprofessional Managment
October 18, 2018Document all communications with management. Most importantly, always communicate by email (may not help much). If you receive any written correspondence from them, it is likely incorrect information, so it’s best to call and confirm that they did their job properly. They do not communicate well with their tenants or each other. I recently vacated and received a letter indicating what the amount of my refund for my secuirty deposit would be. It stated I was entitled to a full refund. Well, they ...decided to send a check that wasnt reflective of what was stated in the letter without any communication explaining the discrepancy.
