About 434 W Roscoe St
434 W. Roscoe is a beautiful vintage high rise, steps to the lake, CTA, grocery stores and shops right at the heart of East Lakeview. Our uniquely large units and beautiful vintage design provide great homes to our tenants. Prior to the building’s construction, 434 West Roscoe was the home of prohibition-era hitman, Frank Gusenberg - one of the seven victims of the 1929 St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. In 1931, the home was demolished to make way for a luxury high-rise, home to wealthy families and Chicago mobsters. During the end of the prohibition era, the indoor garage was converted into a speakeasy. “Alcohol 20¢” can still be seen painted on one of the garage walls. A lookout perch also remains. Today, 434 West Roscoe is a family-owned and managed vintage apartment building. Tenants range from young professionals to seniors who have lived here for over 30 years. Due to each units’ large size and unique character, 434 West Roscoe is lucky to have a community of many long-term tenants who call this building home.

March 11, 2022I've lived here for a year and am excited to renew my lease; 434 W. Roscoe is a truly well-maintained building in Chicago, which feels rare. It's an excellent location near the lake with accessibility to express buses and a street with a separated bike lane. The rooms are spacious and bright. There’s radiator heat that keeps you warm in winter and windows that bring a great breeze in during summer. You pay rent online, and if maintenance is needed there’s a tenant portal that’s easy to use and ...typically garners a response and friendly maintenance crew to take a look within 48 hours. This isn’t an apartment, it’s a home
August 3, 2020I have lived here for nearly three years and it is truly “home.“ I love the spacious apartments. Everyone who comes over immediately comments on the space. Rent is very reasonable for the area considering how large the apartments are. Utilities included except electric. Laundry in basement. Very small indoor parking garage with waitlist. Street parking is not usually that difficult, surprisingly.Review from Apartments.com
