Fire alarm is still an issue and still going off in middle of night. Just happened again at 4:00 AM on June 2, 2016. I saw the other reviewer here mention the alarm issue, and I thought to myself, “Hmm… it can’t really be THAT big of a problem, they must have it sorted out by now… right?” So then I moved in and quickly found out they do not have it solved.
It is a part of living at 777 Main and nobody tells you this before moving in, obviously. Worst part is that the alarm is ear-piercing and
...painful and you have to walk down up to 25 floors of stairs if you live high up (the elevators become shut down for fire safety). When you get outside you see that only a small number of people still care enough to leave the building because the rest are so accustomed to the alarm going off for no reason and just stay inside throughout. This will be a big problem if there ever was a real fire (which there was just a year ago in March of 2015). Several fire trucks and SUVs come and no firefighters get out. Just one guy goes in to shut off the alarm and give the all clear. But this takes about 45 minutes (luckily it wasn’t cold out this time because its June, but this was happening in winter too).
I’m sure this has to be illegal because it’s a major safety hazard -- what with the repeated crowding into the stairwells in the middle of the night with children, cats, and dogs in tow, not to mention how it is slowly conditioning the residents to outright ignore the fire alarms.
I hope the city/fire department can sue or at least fine them for this to force them to fix it.
