Excellent Apartment Management and Maintenance Team
December 20, 2023I've been living in Amber Apartments since 2014. The apartments are nice, and very affordable considering their prime location in North Royal Oak. I believe the complex was built in the 1970/1980 era, so they are not brand new. That has it's down and upside, too. Some of the fixtures (like plumbing, lighting) are a little dated, but then you get walls with real plaster (not thin drywall), which helps with noise suppression. More importantly, everything works, and the appliances are kept ...up-to-date. However, my favorite thing about Amber is definitely how kind and helpful their management staff and maintenance staff has been. They truly treat me like family. They sincerely care if you are experiencing an issue, and all of my maintenance requests are completed very quickly. That, more than anything, has kept me happily and safely living here for over 9 years. I would definitely recommend this complex for anyone who is looking to move to this area. Mold In Lobby
September 19, 2022I visited the community today and the lobby is LOADED with a very pronounced mold smell. My friend who was with me also noticed it. Mold at those levels is not safe for the employees or tenants. That issue needs to be taken care of immediately because it places the health of workers and renters in danger.Review from Apartments.com
Unsafe
December 17, 2021I was sitting at my desk working when all of a sudden my power went out. I look around to see what’s going on and decide to check to see if any maintenance is downstairs. When I ask the electrician if he shut my power off he looks at me as if I was dumb. I then let him know I work from home and I just lost all my work. He then tells me that’s not his problem. I dismiss him and walk away and he didn’t like that. He then begins to yell at me as I’m walking to the third floor. He screams at the top ...of his lungs at me from the basement as I’m still entering my unit. I report him to the office and then he goes outside to then continue to scream and yell as I’m in my unit. I recorded him yelling to the manager who arrived on-site because I told the office I felt unsafe since he had keys to my building. Many people call me and tell me please don’t post the video and he won’t be back and they’ll send someone else. I refrained from writing this review UNTIL the same electrician who acted as if he wanted to fight me HAS to come into my unit to update the breaker box. I have had to go buy extra security for my unit and protection for myself. If you work remote don’t live here because they’ve been working on the power all week and will cut it off without telling you and will sometimes give you an eta. Not only is this a horrible apartment experience but a horrible life experience. I’ve never felt so unsafe and uncared for at a property. Needless to say, be careful because choosing this place.Property Manager Responded

Poor maintenance
February 24, 2021I wouldn’t recommend Amber properties to anyone. Maintenance requests take weeks to be responded to. We were without window screens for 3 months during the fall, because it took that long to repair tears in them. If a maintenance request is filled, they will show up anytime unannounced. I asked to have my laundry room door fixed, someone came three weeks later without notice while I was at work and my cat was trapped behind the washer all day. I wouldn’t expect someone to ensure my cat isn’t ...behind the washer before closing a door, but this could have been avoided if they just made a simple call to let me know they were coming to make a repair and I could ensure my cat and belongings were safe.Property Manager Responded

Affordable and good service!
May 21, 2020Lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with Amber Properties from 2018-2020. Had a wonderful experience! Staff is kind and respond quickly to inquiries and maintenance requests (not that we had many). Our unit was affordable and came with heat and water and a great carport and nearby trash. Wish there was in unit laundry though. The apartment itself was spacious! A little dated but we enjoyed our time, especially for the price.Property Manager Responded

Great apartment for the value
February 8, 2019This is a great apartment to live in overall. This was the first apartment my boyfriend and I moved into after college, and everything has been wonderful. The apartment itself is very cozy, is enough room for the two of us (one bedroom apt), and all of the appliances work well. One thing that really attracted us to this place was the cleanliness, not only of the apartment units when we first moved in but of the shared areas and leasing office. You can tell that cleanliness is important to the ...company. As well, the maintaince staff is awesome and always replies and fixes our issues promptly and efficiently. The price is great for the area and the management team is friendly and helpful.
