Unfathomable Levels of Incompetence.

My experience with this apartment complex was appalling, and I strongly recommend that prospective tenants look elsewhere.
For months, I had to endure excessive stomping and severe creaking from the apartment above me. The noise was so loud that it could regularly be heard over a television playing at normal volume. Management eventually claimed the issue had been “fixed,” yet the supposed repair made only a negligible difference. The noise continued, and no meaningful solution was provided. ...
Calling a problem resolved does not actually resolve it.
The rest of the property was no better. Dog excrement was routinely left throughout the grounds, packages were frequently stolen, and the overall environment reflected a complete lack of effective property management.
The leasing office was consistently unprofessional, disorganized, and unable—or unwilling—to provide meaningful help. Communication was unreliable, concerns were brushed aside, and residents were seemingly expected to tolerate problems indefinitely while continuing to pay full rent.
Their handling of my move-out was the final insult. I informed the office twice by phone that I would physically leave on July 3, although my lease remained active through July 17. I was specifically instructed to leave my keys in the leftmost kitchen drawer, maintain utilities, and keep renters insurance active through the end of the lease. I followed every instruction exactly.
Despite this, management later claimed they had not received the keys and charged me additional daily fees. The keys had been sitting exactly where their own employee told me to leave them. Instead of checking their records, communicating internally, or looking in the location they had specified, they attempted to make their own administrative failure my financial responsibility.
This complex appears perfectly capable of collecting rent and inventing charges, but remarkably incapable of maintaining the property, addressing resident concerns, documenting its own instructions, or providing competent customer service.
Between the unresolved noise, ineffective repairs, filthy grounds, package theft, unprofessional staff, poor communication, and unjustified move-out charges, this was easily one of the worst rental experiences I have had. Horrible experience

Insufferable management. Old apartments which need renovated. Major water leak took over a week to even find the root cause and while the apartment is uninhabitable they refuse to help at all or give any empathy other than fake corporate language and finding out the least they can do and get away with. I have paid a “non compliance fee” when their policyvalidator considers a new start date as a lapse in coverage even though never one day did I not have renters insurance.

Loud, creaky, insufferable ceiling

It's a good price, but oh my god, the management do NOT care that the floors upstairs are so poorly done, that they creak with every footstep. Every day at any time I can tell exactly where my upstairs neighbors are at. They stomp too, which only adds to the agony.
I am typing this right now with headphones on listening to music and I can STILL HEAR THEM WALKING. They shake my monitor and ceilingfans, and if I want to watch a movie, I might as well not use my living room or den.

they would """"fix it""", and that means having loud contractors come early on a SATURDAY, which is insane. 2 weekends straight of work, and the sound is only partially mitigated, but they might as well of not done anything for the living room.
Any other company would have given the upstairs neighbors a transfer or exception to break lease while they work on it, but why bother? They know they don't have to actually do anything.
Again, price is good, but I have not had a single day of peace since these ogres upstairs moved in.

Unit layout is decent and prices are relatively high if you're single, however in the few years of living here I've encountered few issues - primarily the noise and irritation from other people who live here....
You'll have certain types of "people" always yell-talking at each other or on their cell phones or blasting music on their cell phone in common areas. It's not uncommon that people are blasting terrible music in their cars loud enough to shake your building either, and of course all of ...
this on top of the loud music coming from the events at the lake across the highway or even Merriweather - primarily an issue only during the summer. There are also quite a few children that live here who seem to have nothing to do during the summer either, so they like to get in the way of parking lot traffic, dribble basket balls or play-fight each other in common areas as well. Management seems to take noise complaints seriously, but at some point you will need to yell at someone yourself or call the police.
There are quite a few old people living here as well. Emergency services show up weekly so hopefully your car won't be blocked in for long.
The final gripe is the entrances off of Stevens Forest Road aren't smooth, every time you pull in it's incredibly jarring unless you're going 1 MPH - unsure if this is something they'd be allowed to fix but I mentioned it when i first moved in and they couldn't do anything other than agree it was an issue.

Not energy efficient at all. Stays warm through the winter, but the a/c is only rated to cool it 15 degrees. Since summer of 2013 regularly saw temperatures in the 90s, that meant the a/c was running nonstop, barely keeping it around 80 degrees, and our electric bill tripled. I think you get the most for your buck here at Autumn Crest. In the past I've researched other apt. complexes in the area and they were no comparison to what Autumn Crest has to offer.I've been living in this complex almost 20 years. Having moved once to another building to downsize... but I'm equally if not more satisfied.
