It's disguised as a nice place
February 11, 2021If you like moving into a dust-filled apartment, if you want to pay way too much for rent, deal with extremely loud air conditioning units and really loud bathroom fans, be treated poorly by management, hope you get a washer when you need to do laundry, and live somewhere with paper thin walls, then this is the place for you! Otherwise, keep looking for someplace nice. Don't be fooled by the outer appearance. There is so much bad here! I didn't list all of it.Property Manager Responded

Awesome Community- Fantastic Service
September 4, 2019I rarely write reviews but I felt the need to do so . This community is truly outstanding! In the past I've lived at many communities in Elgin and the surrounding areas I must say this one is the best thus far. The Maintenance staff is extremely helpful and responsive. The Office staff is extremely friendly and courteous .. The Manager that is there is truly awesome I had a situation and spoke to her about it , I am so use to managers being too busy to even talk to their residents well she ...wasn't she was also very kind and courteous, because of their service and the lovely apartments I am referring two co -wokers! Amazing 20 Years
July 2, 2019I'm sad to say I had to leave Blackhawk Apartments after 20 years to assist with the care of my 87 year old Mother. The Management and Maintenance Team has changed throughout the years but the quality of the Team didn't. Management and Maintenance Team have always been QUICK to respond to any issues I may have had with Tenants and Maintenance of the apartment. You can find much better for cheaper
January 11, 2019Apartments are cheaply done and it shows. Maintenance takes multiple time visits to fix basic problems. Took them a whole day of no heat in the winter for them to figure out I needed a new thermostat. Only one of the maintenance workers actually can fix things the first time coming otherwise he’s the one that had to come back after others have “fixed” the issue. Office staff is a hit or miss. Scott is absolutely amazing. They have a high turn around for office workers and the current rest are ...sub-par at best currently. Office “manager” never responds to emails and mainly hides in your office if there is ever an issue. Their response for poor maintenance is to call your renters insurance. They don’t care if your unhappy in your unit really. I’ve been here plenty of years to know this. If your neighbors smoke weed or even cigarettes just know you will smell it in your unit as well and the office will do nothing about it. Same with any loud noises, like a sub bass on your upstairs neighbors floor that makes your walls shake they do not care. Or the multiple drug dealers doing deals out of their unit of all hours of the night. The list could go on. It is not worth the money at all when I know for a fact you can find much cheaper for a even nicer and safer place to live.Property Manager Responded

Gone downhill
August 15, 2018Such a shame as it used to be nice here but no more. Communal areas are nasty inside the buildings. Intercom doesn’t work. Doors busted. Maintenance staff overworked and unhappy. Office staff are friendly enough but not smart. Pool hours are 4pm to 8pm in August!! Parking lot crowded, struggle to get a spot. They seem to let anyone live here, it’s pretty grim, but the rent is most expensive in area and will go up every time. Old fashioned air units, tiny bathrooms, old kitchens and very basic ...appliances and fittings. Expensive laundry room. It’s bad all the way around. Avoid.Property Manager Responded

Nice Apartment Complex!
March 19, 2018I've lived here a little over three years and have found it a nice place to live. All the bigger complexes have some issues, but for the most part this property is pretty well taken care! They have a snow removal team that cleans up great,the lawn is maintained as it should be, the interior and exterior of the public areas are always clean. If there's an issue the office staff is very helpful and I find the maintenance staff to be helpful! I found if I have any large issues I can always go to ...the property manager Jolynn Prajel and she will take time to listen to whatever issue I may have, she can be quite helpful! I just signed my fourth please and I hope it’s another good year although recently they seem to be bogged down by extra work which is not quite allowing them the time to deal with the residents and some of the smaller maintenance issues. Aweful
September 27, 2015Found out after moving previous tenants had pets. Should have been told this beforehand. The pipes are old. There was brown stool that backed up in my sink. Every time I cleaned one of my toilets, there was a back up of old toilet paper and sewage, nasty. Many times have to park almost a block away because they other tenants have lots of visitors. Laundry is in another building, have to carry clothes from one building to the next. Unpleasant stay for me. Lived here 2.5 yrs. ready to move now.Review from Apartments.com
