Mold
September 18, 2025I’m not the type that writes reviews for anything but I feel this is wrong. This place was until I found Mold in the bathroom. When I initially reported it, they came to just paint over it. 3 months later, the mold is back!! I submitted the work order and for more than 3weeks it’s not been fixed! I wish I can upload the pictures here. I’ve been breathing mold for the past 3months. I’m moving out this month but I really I wish I know what options available to me because this is wrong!!Property Manager Responded

When the issue was first reported, our team used Kilz mold-resistant paint to address the problem, which is a standard and effective treatment for surface mold. However, since the issue returned, it may indicate a deeper moisture concern that requires further attention. We’d like the opportunity to investigate this thoroughly and ensure it’s properly resolved. Be cautious
August 14, 2025My experience living at this property has been extremely frustrating, especially when it comes to safety and corporate responsiveness. My locked bicycle was stolen from the building’s bike room. I reported it immediately to the on-site property manager, who was professional and tried to help. However, corporate never followed up — despite multiple emails, voicemails, and direct requests for updates to their regional manager. Weeks later, I still haven’t received any reply. This isn’t an ...isolated problem. Other residents have had bikes stolen, locks broken, and packages go missing. There’s been no visible security improvement or review of camera footage to address these incidents. In addition to safety concerns, there are ongoing building issues: • Elevators: Two of the three are often out of service. • Trash disposal: Service hallway bins were removed, leading to garbage being left in corridors, especially during elevator The building currently has many vacant units, yet these problems remain unresolved. Not worth it!
December 24, 2023I lived at Buena Terrace for four years. The apartment was cute and newly furnished, the courtyard is a nice perk, and the location is pretty great for public transportation. Unfortunately, everything else was awful. We went a week without a shower, we went months without hot water, and our kitchen flooded sewer water (which we were forced to clean ourselves). Our window AC unit broke on one of the hottest days of the years and we spent over a week in a 90-100° apartment. Anytime I called for ...help I was told no one was available to help and I would have to wait days to weeks for someone to come to my apartment. Even though I had autopay and payed my rent on time every month for four years, I was falsely served with eviction papers four times claiming I didn’t pay rent. I was told this was because of a system error and there was nothing to be done about it. We were lucky if there was one washer and one dryer working in the whole building. We ended up going to a laundromat down the road to do our laundry. The building has no security. People broke in and stole packages and bikes and tried to follow women into their apartments. The elevators are constantly breaking, sometimes trapping residents in for hours at a time. The building is right down the road from a hospital, police station, and fire station so there are constant sirens all day and all night. Avoid At All Costs
April 11, 2023Would give 0 stars if possible. ZERO. I have lived here for 4 years, across 2 different apartment units. If it were not for Covid I would’ve moved out after one year. In my 4 years living at Buena Terrace, we’ve had 3 property managers- this much turnover tells you just how poorly Horizon Realty corporate management is. ONLY live here if your other option is welfare. Water leaking in units, verbal promises made my management that went unkept, horrible laundry room, and elevators that ...malfunction weekly. There are better places out there!
September 29, 2022I think there are nicer and better-managed buildings in the area at the same price point. FYI the building does not have enough laundry machines, and the ones they have are always broken, so plan on going to the laundromat (and there isn't one in walking distance). The building is old and poorly insulated, so in the winter you'll spend a fortune on heat and you'll still be cold. The water is always being shut off at random times. And on top of all that, having lived here a while, I really don't ...feel like Horizon (the management co.) treats its tenants fairly and respectfully...
