Not so "Sweet Caroline"
July 10, 2023I moved into The Caroline in September when it was under different management. Since Blue Roc took over the property, we've encountered several issues, including a broken security system that took months to fix. The access control system was repaired earlier this year, but the gate took even longer to work properly. It operates with an outdated paging system for guests and has several days where the entry side doesn't work. When I inquired about getting a code for deliveries, I was told no, ...citing security concerns. However, the gate is open Monday through Friday from 9-5, which contradicts their security explanation. I've tried to communicate with The Caroline four times since January via email and hadn’t received any replies. When I went to pick up my gate card and asked about my emails, I was told that they receive too many and sometimes miss them. Additionally, I was told they didn't feel the need to respond to my email regarding security since they assumed the gate would be working soon. Two of my emails reported juveniles breaking into cars in front of my building, but management didn't seem to care. The walls in my apartment are thin, and I can hear everything outside. A neighbor starts their car every morning by 5 AM and it shakes our third-floor apartment. The cleanliness and maintenance of the property are also subpar. Trash is frequently left outside by residents all day or all weekend, and the trash compactor can't handle the volume of waste. Mattresses and couches are left lying around, and pet waste stations are often filled to or over the top. The hallways are also dirty, with stains and bugs littering the floors. When we pay for a trash pickup service and you put notices out about power washing the buildings, we expect these things to be handled for what we pay. The property management team is slow to replace AC filters because they run out, and rule enforcement is lax. Some people park in handicapped spots without a placard or park their commercial vehicles outside with no consequences. Although Blue Roc promised to start towing cars, they have yet to do so, and the lack of enforcement during nights and weekends is concerning.
