Bait and Switch
August 22, 2023The apartments themselves appear to be well maintained but the management misrepresented the property and terms repeatedly throughout the leasing process, including showing an apartment they said was the actual apartment we'd be renting and then changing it in the lease without even a mention. After we were approved in a credit check where they appeared to lose sensitive financial documentation we provided, we were told--after discovering they silently switched the apartment address--that we ...would have to sign the 12-month lease without having seen the apartment to "hold" it, that we couldn't see it until 10 days before move-in (in 3 months), and that we would be released from the lease if we didn't want it (despite explicit terms in the lease that say otherwise.) The lease is poorly written and immensely imbalanced, with onerous obligations for the tenant and few obligations or checks on the landlord.
