Mold infested buildings
March 20, 2026Absolutely the worst living conditions you'll ever be thrown into. They will show you a "fake" apartment and say it's like yours, but when you move in, it'll be a smaller, smelly, dirty apartment with mold in the closets, cupboards, and windows. June 19, 2025Stayed at Charter Oaks for two years before I had to relocate for my job and I enjoyed my stay. The staff at Charter Oaks are incredibly sweet and patient with their tenants. I can speak very highly of maintenance. Every time I needed emergency maintenance someone was there within the hour, sometimes in less than thirty minutes. A lot of families live here which is nice. Kids are often seen playing outside but I love that kids have the opportunity to play with others since so many families stay ...here. They host family friendly events throughout the year as well! The apartment buildings have character, and the property is nice. Minimal noise for being close to the highway, my apartment did not back up to the highway however. The apartments are very affordable for the area. The older apartments look outdated, but the updated units look very nice. With an older unit it felt like I was paying a lot after two years in prospective to the updated units. Only complaints are that the walls are thin, I could hear everything my neighbors were doing and they were not intentionally being loud. Security is a little bit lax. I had one instance where someone was on the property that didn’t live there and shouldn’t have been and was stirring up trouble. Since then I have noticed that security cameras have been installed on the outside of the buildings to ensure tenant safety and appreciate how quickly the apartment took action. Cops will frequent the complex, which ensures an extra level of security. If you are looking for a place to stay in the area that is affordable and family friendly, I recommend Charter Oaks.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

Save your money
December 12, 2022If you’re looking for something that’s worth your money, this isn’t the place!!! Lived here for a year and six months and I wish I could’ve left sooner.. the apartments aren’t worth the rent as they look like they haven’t been updated since 2007 my ceiling caved in after 3 months of living there, it took maintenance 3 MONTHS to fix it, I kept getting sick because there was black mold in it and they just ended up covering it up with a piece of drywall, took them a month to send someone to replace ...my dishwasher. The people in the office are rude, disrespectful, and so many other things, the managers are even worse, I’d steer clear from this place if I were you! I’ve yet to recommend a single person to this place, Never have never will. You’re better off finding somewhere elseProperty Manager Responded

Do not expect to sleep
November 9, 2019The noise level is absurd. Between constant maintenance to construction that takes months you will not get any sleep. Especially if you work 2nd or 3rd shift. They also hire outside companies to handle lawn care, and they will not only spend 6 hours on a single patch of grass, but will happily shoot rocks into your windshield and cover your car in grass. Don't get me started on the incompetent maintenance crew who can't manage to fix even the most basic of issues without making several trips ...to your apartment, in which they will be extremely rude in the process. To top this off, they allow stoners to fill the halls with pot smoke...which goes great when you gotta go to work and risk your own job due to your clothes smelling like it. Ive been here 4 years. Between the substantially increasing price of rent and the god awful conditions I do not reccomend moving here. You'd have better quality sleep at a motel.Property Manager Responded

Charter Oaks is a great place to live
March 15, 2019I’ve lived at Charter Oaks for 3 years now and I’ve had not one issue with the company that runs it. My building is quiet and the staff are all friendly. The landscaping crew in the summer keeps the grounds beautiful and the snow crew in the winter keeps the sidewalks and parking lots as clear as they can. As soon as it snows they are there. I moved from one apartment to another because I wanted a balcony with a nice view and I got everything I wanted. It was a seemless transition from one ...place to another so that’s why Charter Oaks gets 5 stars. Because yes you are home!Property Manager Responded

Lies lies lies
June 27, 2018It was a wonderful experience moving in, the ladies in the office were so sweet and kind and loved my dog. Fast forward to 3 Months later, I decided to apply for a 2 bedroom that was opening soon. Resubmitted EXACT SAME PAPERWORK as i previously did and they claim my dog is not allowed due to him not falling into the “breed restriction”. I continued to get the run around and the lady at the office told me my paperwork said my dog was a different breed than the original paperwork i submitted which ...is 100% FALSE!!! Now I have been given the choice to leave or get rid of my dog. But, I have a certain amount of days to move out but my dog cannot stay. WHERE IS MY DOG SUPPOSED TO GO?!!!!! DO NOT MOVE IN
July 28, 2016I can't even get myself to give this place one star. I lived in this complex for a year and never had a problem UNTIL the day I moved out and waited for my security deposit, that's when the downward spiral began. I got the checklist on the mail with a letter informing me of a supposed cat that I had in my apartment that destroyed the carpet that they had to replace. I have never owned a cat in my life and always took care of my place. Not once did I have a complaint made about me nor did I ever ...miss paying rent. Along with this letter they TRIED to charge me $900 in damages and keep my deposit. It was as if they had someone walk through my apartment and completely lie on the checklist. I disputed the fees, obviously, and they threatened to take legal action. I called their bluff and contacted a lawyer. DO NOT let their rebuttal letter scare you, keep fighting! Once I, again, told them I wouldn't pay the fee and that I was in contact with a lawyer, they immediately backed down and withdrew the fees BUT kept my security deposit. I looked into district court cases and found out that they have done this to their tenants multiple times. I wasn't the first and I definitely wont be the last. I was very disappointed with this experience. I feel the need to warn people of this apartment complex and the crooked way they treat their tenants. My advice is to look elsewhere for an apartment OR if you are currently living there to make sure that the day you do move out, make sure you take pictures of your apartment and/or make one of the girls in the office walk through it with you before you hand in your keys.
