Comfortable and Welcoming
September 27, 2024 - Review from Apartments.comI’ve had a very pleasant experience living here so far. I been renting here for about a year now and haven’t had any issues at all. The staff is friendly, and the maintenance team is quick and easy going. The staff here also throws occasional events and gatherings that are family oriented and fun. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to be in calm environments.
I can not repeat this enough. Do. Not. Move.Here.
October 24, 2023 - Review from Apartments.comWe lived there for four years, recently moving out this past summer. Our first year went smoothly, but years 2-4 felt like a hellscape. We dealt with roaches, ants and mice regardless of how clean we kept the place. There were at least 5 recorded instances of water flooding our apartment. The last time this happened, Picerne offered no compensation and blamed the upstairs tenant. They had the audacity to tell the tenant to be more careful with showering! With the amount of water that came from ...the ceiling, it was impossible that it was from someone who didn’t close the curtain enough. I was angered that as the owners of the infrastructure, they needed to ultimately take responsibility, but they refused to. Time after time we were met with hostility from the management team. Picerne will look to nickel and dime you while refusing to update any of their buildings that were built in the 1980s. Yet, their rent has drastically been increasing yearly, with them most recently raising our rent $200 if we stayed. Instead of fixing fundamental problems, they look to distract you with their “amenities” you can’t use for most of the year. I will NEVER ever recommend them to anyone who is searching for an apartment.Read More
Terrible
September 13, 2023 - Review from Apartments.comLived at Brookside for 2 yrs. Roaches in building that had to be treated twice. Neighbors said they had mice in their building. Rent went up $200 in 2022 and $250.00 this year. Building is never cleaned. There is dog urine in the carpet stairs they refuse to clean no matter you complain about it. We moved out and all neighbors left to.
Don't live here
July 21, 2023 - Review from Apartments.comIf you don't want your packages stolen or your car broken into, do not move here. They don't have any security measures in place its a free for all. The walls are too thin and cheap. You can hear everyone's conversations and spicy time if you catch my drift. The kids run around the property without any adult supervision. If you want anything fixed or done it's a challenge as management does not listen. You pay rent to a place like this and you expect some input but noooo listening is not a part ...of the lease unless it's you the renter and your at fault for everything.Read More
Stay away
October 12, 2021 - Review from Apartments.comConstant water/power outages. Faulty security doors and sliding doors. Dirty laundry rooms and pool/gym area. Hair and nails under the paint.
DON'T MOVE HERE!!!
July 17, 2019 - Review from Apartments.comI have lived here for over 3 years. When I moved in this was a nice place to live. The staff knew you by name and would work with you in situations that arose, if there was something amiss with the apartment maintenance was on point, repairing it well and quickly. Unfortunately as the years have progressed this property has declined into a well-polished dump, for lack of a better word. The management body, Picerne, brought in a whole new crew for the office when all of the decent staff grew tired ...of the bull crap and quit or took better jobs. Since then it's been abysmal living here. The maintenance is terrible, the management is constantly attempting to nickle and dime you to death with fees they sporadically create, the rent requirement is exorbitant (they require your income to be three times the annual rent), there's constantly people moving in and out so you never know your neighbors or the quality of individual of them, (a large number of the transient neighbors have been the quintessential college kids, partying and loud at all hours of day and night), they try to implement drastic policy changes mid-lease, and there's absolutely no human decency or compassion from the staff. So simply put SAVE YOURSELF THE HEARTACHE, DON'T MOVE HERE!!!Read More
Simple, yet convenient
June 15, 2019 - Review from Apartments.comI have been living here just over a month and it is not as terrible as people think. The PROS are most utilities are included in the rent (select apartments) which makes budgeting simpler, pool, awesome land to walk, and the other amenities. Super kid friendly and great neighbors. CONS: the walls are paper thin and can be noisy at times but not overly noisy, the craftmanship could be improved it looks like they turn over the apartment too quickly and not much attention to detail (paint splats on ...the tile floor), paint drips on the wall, and some dings on the wall as well which I request to be fixed on move-in, not sure if the a/c units are energy efficient if they are used frequently (seem old as the building), the apartments could use some updates and the deck some paint. Overall it a great community close to everything and you are not looking out at a parking lot like most apartment communities.Read More
Look elsewhere, constant disappointment.
October 11, 2016 - Review from Apartments.comThis was the worst place to live for the last year we could not wait to leave! If you work at night and are home during the day forget having any sort of peace. There is constant construction, the water gets shut off every month multiple times, workers yelling at each other in the parking lot and so much more. Aside from the noise and disruption, the amenities are awful. The washers are disgusting, it appears that the only time they are cleaned is when I use a lysol wipe before washing my own ...laundry. The dryers are always broken and it appears as though the lint traps have not been cleaned out in years. The pool is a mess not only because of the lack of supervision but after watching a resident spit up mucus in the pool and staff skim out feces from the kiddie pool and throw it over the fence into the woods, I never went back (the grills there are also filthy). The grounds are littered with dog feces and the dumpsters are constantly overflowing (which was a terrible smell in the summer) and because no one closed the side or top of the dumpster, the wind would blow trash and recyclables all over the parking lot. When it comes to the inside of the apartments, the walls are paper thin and having a neighbor whose dog barks for 8 hours at a time and another neighbor who argues with their family all day its unbearable. The shared porch was poorly thought out, if you want to open your blinds to let some light into the apartment people can walk right by and can see into your living space. Aside from the poor engineering our apartment had black mold, a non working refigeratior, windows that would not fully close, a fan above the stove that needed replacement, a moldy cat hair filled air conditioner, and this was all within the first four months of living here. Finally, the leasing agents could not care less about your needs, once you have signed the lease you are no longer a concern of theirs. If they tell you that they will be updating the countertops, cabinets, giving you a dishwasher or power washing the porch, do not listen to them. This is just their way of making sure you sign the lease and then they will not deliver. Please look elsewhere and do not waste a year of your life here!Read More
It's okay
June 25, 2016 - Review from Apartments.comApartments were built in the 70s and haven't been modernized for the 21st century. They still feature old 70s style cabinets that have been painted numerous times. Kitchens are small. While holes in walls and cracks in ceilings have been patched, the interiors have not been redone properly. Replacement windows have been installed and the work was shoddy. No central air. A/C in living room is not energy efficient and is not suited to cool the entire apartment. Bedroom doesn't have A/C and ...because of sliding windows, if you want one you'll need an expensive, clunky unit. The deck/patio outside the apartments are two narrow. Not even enough room for a patio chair. I've seen balconies on cruise ships that are roomier. Wood, not the new plastic decking, was used. The wood has been painted but is chipping and wood is splintered. Don't go out there with bare feet. Ouch! There is no security that patrols the area and no cameras in the parking lot which has contributed numerous cars being broken into. Common doors use a key that both current and past have. These should be electronic locks so when tenants move out their pass can be deactivated. Again, very 70s style. Single cable hookup in the livingroom and bedroom limits placement of your TV. Not a major issue though depending on your furniture it could make for an interesting configuration. Staff is very friendly. Neighbors are fine. No complaints there. Management is responsive to concerns.Read More
Reasonable rent, great leasing agents, convenient location and great neighbors
September 5, 2015 - Review from Apartments.comThis complex is very convenient and only about 1 mile off exit 10. It's country-like living, but the location is pretty central to everything. They have excellent amenities - gym, laundry room, car care center (where you can clean your car, vacuum it and put air in your tires), they offer a storage facility for a low rate and even have a pool. They also have a putting green and volley ball court. If you have a dog, there's also a dog park. What more could you want for a reasonable rate? Choose ...Cowesett Hills for your apt needs.Read More
got it right where it counts
August 4, 2015 - Review from Apartments.comthis is actually my second time living in cowesett hills apartments. my first time i was in a 2 bedroom, this time a 1. the maintenance department is very friendly and rather prompt with calls, the only exception being on-call hours which they can't control. the grounds are beautiful, and some of the best i've stayed in. they keep the grass under control, litter is nowhere to be seen, and people with pets (myself included) seem to keep a good clean environment. i honestly couldn't be more ...effusive in my praise for management. we had a little difficulty getting in, but they worked with us the entire time and were genuine. truly some wonderful people. the clubhouse is huge, and the ability to handle just about any function is great (pretty sure there was a wedding reception the other day). there is a large pool with multiple grilling platforms allowing for multiple families or large parties. the upstairs room has a full wet bar available for functions, though i don't know the specifics of rental/stocking the bar. the quick access to 95 (it's just off exit 10) on one side (more of a "side entrance" is fantastic, and the main entrance allows you to go out on the east greenwich side, and lets you feel much more rural than you'd expect. the only complaint i'd have is the appearance. there are some aesthetics that could be worked on, but as a carpenter (that turned down a job with the rental company to no adverse reaction), most everything is solid if not uniform (mostly paint needed). the repairs are ongoing and consistent. it is an apartment afterall, there's only so much investing into the property they can do before cutting into profits. overall, i would definitely reccomend this as a "step-up" apartment, or a long-term rental. even the neighbors are all friendly (so far, after 7 months of renting) and either give simple friendly greeting or let you go on your way.Read More
Choose carefully
August 1, 2015 - Review from Apartments.comThis complex isn't a bad place to live they include heat and hot water in their rent but that's one of the small perks of living here. The office closes at 6 so if you need to do laundry make sure you go fill your card with money before because there's no way to recharge your card outside of business hours. They try to give fair warning about people coming to do maintenance but they rarely show up in the timeframe you're given. Also make sure if you can be home for any repairs to do so, I've had ...people fix the ceiling while I was gone and there was plaster on the ceiling fan, my stove, my tv, the refrigerator, in my cats food and water and when we asked if they could send someone over to clean the mess they sent a guy with a bucket and a rag which we proceeded to ask to leave because he wasn't very helpful. Don't expect your rent to stay the same either after your first year either. When you go to resign a lease they word it like they're giving you a break by saying that there's an additional credit and the apartment could be worth much more which is ridiculous. And the amount it increases varies from apartment to apartment from 20$ or more so you can't use someone else's experience to try and figure what yours would increase by. All and all if you're looking for a place to stay for a single year it's not bad but if you're trying to find a place to stay longer and be stable another place may be best for you.Read More
