Crow Lover's Paradise
September 23, 2021Beware! Crows, roaches, and mold. I lived in the flats for one year. I have never lived in such poor living conditions before. Issue # 1 - Thousands (literally) of crows nest in Shirlington Village from October - April each year. They encircle the building cawing from 4am - 6am every morning. The walls are paper-thin and you can still hear the extremely loud cawing when using earplugs. Before moving here, go check out the thousands of crows that nest in Shirlington Village at night. Or just ...google "Shirlington Crows". They will ruin your life. Shirlington Village tries to scare them away with sound cannons, but that only lasts a few minutes. When you walk outside of your building every day you will see bird droppings all along the sidewalk and you will be forced to walk through the mess. Issue #2 - My health suffered from living here. The apartment that I moved into had mold. I developed clear symptoms of mold exposure (chronic cough, memory loss, fatigue, heart palpitations/increased heart rate, and a cough that lasted for 6 months). Once mold spores are in your furniture and clothes, it's hard to get out. Maintenance laughed at the fact I was complaining about mold and the musty smell. I used at-home tests and a mold detection company to verify the mold. Delancey did let me switch to another apartment. Issue #3 - The first apartment I moved into was infested with roaches. They told me this was because the apartments are above restaurants. I've lived in many apartment buildings over restaurants - and never saw roaches. Exterminators put sticky roach traps all throughout the inside of my apartments. I have never lived anywhere where I had to constantly have roach traps littered around the floor of my living space. It was so embarrassing to have guests over. The staff of Delancey acted like it was a normal thing to have roach traps all over the inside of your apartment Issue #4 - The apartment they moved me to had silverfish, damp carpets, and a constant smell of pot in the hallways. My quality of life decreased significantly while I was living at Delancey. My health, my sleep, and my work life suffered. Notice the strong air freshener smell when you walk into the main office. Horrible management and property
August 27, 2019I have lived here and have friends that have or still here. The management and staff are as useful as ticks on a dog. They are fake and will tell you what you want to hear to sign a lease. The maintenance staff will blame the tenant on broken equipment or breaks in order to not replace and make the tenant pay. The desk and work staff gossip and hang out with tenants which is also how you get know much of this scoop. November 19, 2019Hello, We regret to hear that you had a negative experience while living at our community. Our management staff was available to meet with you during any point of your residency. In regards to our maintenance technicians, you would only be asked for pay for something if you broke it. We would never ask you to pay for an appliance that randomly broke. It is unfortunate that there are residents in the building that allow their pets to relieve themselves and don’t clean up after them. The lofts are amazing
July 7, 2019I lived in one of the Loft apartments for 5 years and it was a great home. The walls are thick, you have no neighbors top or bottom, and everything feels fresh and new. Maintenance always came the same day and the grounds are well kept. Parking is an issue - particularly in the tower and flats buildings, lots of people vying for few garage spaces and competing with shoppers. Concierge is spotty - they advertise 24 hour coverage but in reality, they leave the desk frequently for long periods ...and you're basically out of luck until they come back. Otherwise, couldn't be more convenient right in the middle of the village shops and grocery.Property Manager Responded

Not a good place
January 26, 2018Please do it be fooled. This apartment complex is rude and only in it for the money. Horrible insulation ( freezing duing the winter and expect a heating ill aroind 200 for a 1,000 sq foot place) college party loid noises, people getting sick in the hall and not cleaning it until carpet had to be removed 4 days later. September 24, 2016I just moved in to the Delancy in August. I love this place. Angela is awesome! She got me my apartment and has been nothing but kind and helpful since! She is the reason I got an apartment here! She goes above and beyond for the residents here. I have lived in many apartment complexes in NYC, and DC, and I can honestly say this is one of the best places I have lived in. I highly recommend it and recommend Angela to be the one to help you! No Place Like Home!
September 24, 2016I've lived here for a year now and I'm never moving! I feel right at home and love being to walk everywhere, restaurants, groceries, movies, theater, post office, ups, dry cleaners and the list goes on and on. If you do have to drive this location is central to everything! The 24-7 concierge is fantastic and considering there are a lot of dogs in the building this building is always immaculate. I am so happy I moved here and the this is not your typical apartment living as the units have such ...character! The leasing office team is wonderful and very responsive. Balanced, steady, and consistent living
September 19, 2015I moved into the Delancey at Shirlington Village, a UDR property, three years ago. I am the type of person that knows when a decision feels right for me, so within minutes of meeting with the leasing agent, I knew this was the place I would want to be. I did not know anyone and living on the 11th floor was very new to me after living in NC. What I like most about the Delancey is it grows with you, or has grown with me through many transitions the last three years. The maintenance service is ...exceptional, they almost answer my request too quickly. If I have any issues, there is always someone to speak with about it. Of course different personalities yield different outcomes, but for me the Delancey gets better with each year. I feel very safe and there is always a smile to greet me even if I do not want it the minute I walk through the front door. This has been a meaningful resident that I will hold close to my heart with my few friends, the ability to leave my apartment anytime and have restaurants, shopping and beautiful trees and paths to walk.
