Do NOT move into Essex “luxe”

If you are thinking about renting here, DON’T. I lived here for over two years, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at an apartment complex.
Let’s start with the silverfish infestation. Whatever you think an infestation looks like, imagine worse. They are everywhere in the common areas. Honestly, look up at the corners of the walls and you’ll probably see them. Unfortunately, they don’t stay in the common areas, they are in every apartment too.

silverfish will get into your shoe boxes and show up in dark places, cracks, and crevices throughout your apartment. Move a piece of furniture? Expect to find silverfish behind it. Imagine being in your kitchen, cooking and a silverfish falls from the ceiling onto your head. That should tell you how serious the problem is.
The pool and common areas are also frequently dirty, and the gates are constantly broken. As for the parking, all of the other reviews are accurate. Residents are charged $40 a month for parking, yet if you come home after midnight, good luck finding a spot. Guest parking is also ridiculous at $2 per hour.
Then there’s the move out process. You complete and submit a move in inspection form when you first move in, but when you move out, they suddenly act like they never received it. They then hit you with random charges in an attempt to keep your security deposit, despite having pictures showing that you left the apartment clean.
After moving to another apartment complex, I can honestly say that my experience has made me realize just how unprofessional and poorly managed UDR is. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere before signing a lease here. There are much better options out there, and I regret spending over two years living here.
