Still loving my home

I have been a resident of Estates since it opened and this is now my 3rd lease. I resigned the lease with them for one reason and one reason only, the office staff. An apartment is just an apartment, and you can get an apartment at any complex around DFW, but to find people that work together as a team to make this a great place to live is rare. The team that works at their front office not only cares about the whole complex, and you can tell they do because of how pretty, clean and well taken ...
care of this place is. But they also care about you as a tenant. From a good morning to a casual wave when you see them out on the surroundings, to taking care of maintenance issues in a quick manner, to having parties so the neighbors can meet and get to know each other, to giving you a quick call because they notice your tire is low on air. I know people tend to focus on the negatives when things don’t go their way because it seems like it by some of these reviews, but there’s always 2 sides to every story. I can highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a spacious apartment with top notch service and a very cool pool with a great vibe.

Repeated Vehicle Damage and No Accountability

I would strongly caution anyone considering living at Estates of McKinney, especially if you care about your vehicle or expect management to take responsibility for property related damage. I have had vehicle damage happen multiple times to two different vehicles. The first issue involved the solar panels on top of the carports. The solar panel itself came loose, detached, and hit the side of my vehicle multiple times. I submitted maintenance tickets, provided pictures, and reported it each time ...
it happened. Since the issue was not fixed after multiple reports, I requested a different parking spot, but they refused to help. I later traded in that vehicle and lost value because of the damage. When I brought this up, the manager told me that since I no longer had the vehicle, they did not have to do anything about it, even though I had reported the damage while I still owned it. Now I am having issues with a second vehicle. I have reported concerns about the lawn crew scratching my truck while mowing near the curb where I park. Management told me I need picture proof, even though my home is behind another unit and I cannot see the road from inside. I have reported vehicle damage issues through calls and tickets more than six times, but management continues to say they are not responsible. They also pointed to lease language saying vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk, as if that excuses damage caused by their property or vendors. I have emails, tickets, photos, and documentation, yet I have been repeatedly dismissed. If you park near grass, under a carport, or near maintenance areas, check your vehicle regularly. Based on my experience, vehicle damage is treated as the resident’s problem, even when reported repeatedly with evidence.
