Airbnb Central: Apartment or Hotel?

We lived at Everest at Largo for a year and, while the apartments are newer and visually appealing, our overall experience steadily declined.
The biggest issue was the increasing number of short-term rentals. During our time there, management began allowing a number of units to be used as Airbnb-style rentals. As a result, there was constant turnover of neighbors, frequent parties, and recurring parking issues. It made the community feel much less like a residential apartment complex and more ...
like a hotel.
One incident that really stood out occurred over the course of about a week, when approximately 12 different people knocked on our door because they mistakenly believed our apartment was their Airbnb. We reported the issue to management, and a notice was placed on our door explaining that our unit was not an Airbnb. While that helped reduce the confusion, we were told that the short-term rentals themselves would continue.
As long-term residents, we felt that our concerns took a back seat. In our experience, management appeared to prioritize the continuation of short-term rentals over the concerns of residents who actually lived there full-time.
By the time our daughter was born, we no longer felt the community was the type of environment we wanted to raise a family in.
The surrounding area also wasn’t our favorite. During our time there, we frequently observed transients in the area, and the property maintained an on-site police officer. We personally did not find the neighborhood to feel as safe or family-oriented as we had hoped.
The buildings themselves also felt somewhat cheaply constructed, although the apartments are modern and visually appealing.
Overall, we would not recommend Everest at Largo to families looking for a quiet, stable apartment community.
