June 10, 2026 - Review from Apartments.comMy husband and I have been residing at the Excelisor 2 for almost two years! We can't say enough about the service! From the concierge service down to the management and Security staff everyone is friendly. As far as cleanliness it is in our opinion one of the best kept building still in hackensack. Thanks to the entire staff.

(Most were already here before us.)The building is always immaculate. Management is on the premises. We have a restaurant, gym, and upscale vending machines. If I didn’t have to, I’d never leave the building. In short, 170 Prospect has a sense of community. People live and work here for a long time. It’s nice to come to home to.

From the moment I moved in, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The property is always clean, beautifully maintained, and has a peaceful, safe atmosphere that makes it feel like home. One of the best things about living here is the outstanding management and maintenance staff. They are always professional, courteous, and genuinely care about the residents. Any questions or maintenance ...requests are handled quickly and efficiently, which is greatly appreciated. It is clear that they work hard to keep the community running smoothly. The grounds and common areas are kept in excellent condition year-round. I especially appreciate the landscaping, lighting, and overall appearance of the property. The amenities are well-maintained and add so much convenience and enjoyment to everyday living. The neighbors are friendly and respectful, creating a warm community atmosphere. It is quiet, comfortable, and a wonderful place to come home to after a busy day. Can't beat the space!
May 21, 2026 - Review from Apartments.comWe're relatively new residents, but so far, we have loved living here! They just built a small 24hr gym free to use which has been great! My husband no longer has any excuse on why he can't work out. Jennifer, the property manager, gets things done. There has never been any delays in getting paperwork completed and no flakiness. Tasks just get done quickly and I appreciate the efficiency and reliability! 1.) The space. All the new "luxury" apartments that they're building around Hackensack ...were more expensive for 2/3 the space. We have massive furniture (king bed, full dresser set, large sectional couch) which fit easily into our apartment w/ room to spare. 2.) I actually like that it's an older apartment. It's more sturdily built and I cannot hear noise from adjacent apartments. The new apartments we visited had thing walls and shoddy outlets. I also like that the apartment is cooled/heated by wall units. I like having control over which rooms I regulate while still being conscientious of my energy bill. 3.) I am a huge rule follower, so the I actually appreciate the strict emails and enforcement of their policies. I do not want my living space smelling like weed, or random people parking in assigned spot, and I am glad that management considers the living experience of ALL the tenants. 4.) So far, absolutely NO PESTS! I am terrified of roaches and will die if I see one in my apartment, so I am glad that has not been an issue! 5.) Laundry is shared, but there are two washers/dryers per floor. They are almost always available, and it uses an app which makes it easy to load money onto my account. No quarters. They're also commercial sized so large loads and blankets have not been an issue. One thing to note is that if your apartment faces Prospect Ave, it can be a little noisy, so if you're sensitive to noise that might be something to consider, but we adjusted pretty quickly and it has not been a problem for us! LOL From the very first tour with Sherri, my experience at The Excelsior Two Apartments has been warm, welcoming, and professional. She was personable, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain every detail — from the renovation plans to what living here would truly feel like. One thing I absolutely LOVE is the space. As someone who wanted room to breathe, The Excelsior definitely delivered. Finding a 2-bedroom, 2-bath ...apartment with over 1,500 square feet in this area is almost unheard of. Honestly, our apartment is bigger than some of my friends’ homes. The concierge staff deserves a special shoutout — Roy, Furhman, and Latif are hands-down my favorites. Always friendly, accommodating, and genuinely pleasant every single day. The management team also has an open-door policy that makes you feel heard, and anytime there’s an issue, they address it quickly. Victor, the super, is amazing and always willing to help whenever he can. Jen and Rocco bring such a down-to-earth, welcoming energy to the office — they make the building feel less corporate and more like community. As a city girl, I appreciate the laid-back atmosphere here. What really surprised me most is how friendly the neighbors are. People actually greet you in the elevator or say hello in passing, which gives the building a little bit of that Southern charm feeling that’s rare to find in NJ apartment living. The laundry room on my floor has been out of order for six days now and I was told as a tenant. I have to call the laundry company to tell them to come out and repair their washing machines. The rent is so high. Concierge are fair. There is no dry cleaning here. There’s no free fitness center.There are no security cameras on any of of the floors in this apartment building ...and it takes forever for the elevators to get up and down the Office staff is rude and nasty and this past year my rent went up 7% and I live in an old an updated apartment that has probably looked the same since the 1970s even though I was promised when I moved in that I would be getting a renovated apartment . Not a good environment
June 25, 2024 - Review from Apartments.comHave you ever been to a business where much of the staff seems to hate their jobs - and it shows? Even as a casual observer, I've witnessed infighting. Some staff put more energy into avoiding work when it would take less time to simply do it, exhibit anti-tenant attitudes with mostly unhelpful concierges (for some- others get great service) and smart-mouth answers. There are long emails from management that scolds tenants. The garage elevator stays in disrepair 95% of the time and for months at ...a time. The 5% of the time it works, you will avoid it due to the strange, nauseating smell in it. I've seen bags of garbage sit in the garage - next to the garbage can - for a week at a time. You see the same pieces of trash in the garage in the same place weeks at a time. The pool was closed without notice. The building could be saved with an empowered, experienced, dedicated manager that actually likes tenants and has a customer service attitude, along with a few other staff changes, but it won't happen because there has been a lot of turnover with talented people going elsewhere. The management, the rental agent, the doormen, the porters & of course all the tenants are the best. I moved to the building In 2015. I then moved out in 2017. IN 2019, I moved back to building.

November 6, 2022 - Review from Apartments.comOne out five since I’ve lived here for almost 6 years and witnessed the decline of the service and the attitude of management and work crew. It was nice in the beginning even though things could’ve been improved here and there. Midnight parties, loud music, scattered trash, unworkable garage gates, and the hands off mentality were not as common or often pre COVID. Now, the apartment building becomes a hub of weed smokers, loud parties and irresponsible tenants who liter everywhere. A ...growing number of tenants smoking weeds in the kitchen and keeping the exhaust fan on for hours is the biggest red flag now. We are the victims of the sickening smell and no one is here to help. Just a reminder to the management of the building, when you raise our rent 10% year over year, please keep up with your service that will match the rent increase. We are tenants not your doormat. Please stop telling us there is nothing you can do. You should be able to Do Your Job! You are supposed to Do Your Job! However, there are growing number of tenants breaking rules and making the place an unbearable place to live. If there are any issues or complaints you may have, please direct them to the management office so we may try and remedy them. We cannot fix what we do not know about. Smoking inside an apartment is fully legal and within our rules. If there are noise complaints, please direct them to the Concierge desk or Hackensack Police Department at the time of the noise. We have a cleaning staff here 6 days a week that clean all common areas and the parking garage, which is inspected by the management team - there is not "trash everywhere" as you claim. Also, your statement regarding rent increases during the height of COVID is absolutely false. We did not raise rents at the height of the COVID pandemic for any tenant, and the figure you gave for an average increase is false as well. Overall, we are sorry you feel this way and if you reach out to us we will try to accommodate you and make your stay as pleasant as ...possible. Our goal is to make you happy as a resident.
