  • Good location, poorly managed

    I moved into an apartment with many issues already, and some still unresolved. The management will take a long time to get back to you on anything, will not respond to maintenance requests and the maintenance staff is very unprofessional. I've put in numerous maintenance requests with multiple issues and they would come and do one thing and leave without resolving the other issues or communicating anything to me. They always leave a huge mess behind, including one time finding one of my towels ...
    had been used for something and then thrown into my washer covered in bark dust (as in LOTS of bark dust) so that I had to clean it all out by hand because it was too big to fit through the holes in the washer. No one ever bothered to apologize or say anything about this when I complained. One day I was having my sink worked on because I had low water pressure, and then I came home to find my garbage disposal sitting on my kitchen table, again with no explanation. When I moved in they would not allow me to bring my own washer and dryer, but assured me the once I was getting were newer. These are clearly at least 20 years old and do not work well. My dishwasher has melted parts in it and they have looked at it and done nothing. I asked them to tell me if it was safe to use and have no idea if they ever even looked at it. One of my heaters does not work, after two work orders I'm giving up on that one. The carpet is old and stained, the ceiling fan was broken when I moved in and took a month to get it working, my bathroom towel rack was promised to be replaced but has never been and is broken and has sharp jagged edges. Needless to say, if your apartment needs anything, and it will because its old, you will not get it in a timely manor, if at all, and will probably have to clean up after if it is fixed. I would not recommend this place for the price you can get a much nicer apartment in Salem. The only good thing about it is that its right next to Minto Brown Park.

  • Don't do it!

    I really wanted to like the place...but...after living here for just over 3 months, I have the following to say as a warning to those considering the place: Choose a sunny location to avoid black mold and damp carpets and walls. This will bring up your cooling costs in the summer, but those 1978 single pane windows and uninsulated walls will do NOTHING to keep out the damp! Keep your dog away from the approved "potty areas" because very few people pick up after their pooch and management does ...
    nothing to alleviate the issue. My dog had to go through three rounds of medication to get rid of the giardia he picked up there. The only way we were able to bring the numbers into the normal range was to stop visiting the potty areas. Be prepared to choke on smoke! There is no smoking allowed in the apartments, or on the grounds - supposedly - but each and every day featured a steady stream of smokers lighting up at the top of the driveway, right behind our living room! The plumbing is ancient, the toilets small, the cupboards dinky, the appliances are original to 1978 and should have been scrapped long ago and the electrical outlets nearly non-existent! The manager was pleasant and had an open-door policy, the office staff was polite. After three months, we left the place cleaner than it had been when we took possession, we used 3M Command Strips for all wall hangings, there were no bugs, and I steam-cleaned the entire carpet on my way out the door, however, here are the charges I was presented with on my Move Out Statement: Painting $65 Cleaning $190 Carpet Cleaning $70 Blind/Window Covering Cleaning $42 Extermination!? $75 That's over $440! When I moved out of my apartment that I'd been living in for three years in Fresno, CA - they refunded me every penny of my deposits! Run away from Forest Ridge Apartments - you've been warned!

  • Mold in multiple apartment!

    May 15, 2018
    After having severe respiratory issues where I had to go to the hospital we found that we had mold growing in our apartment. Under the bubbles I was assured were paint in the bathroom. Also found it growing through the carpet. We had asked multiple times to have our window seal cleaned because of mold. They came once and it grew back. They never came again to clean it after multiple attempts of reporting it. After moving out we were charge bogus fees for maitntance that was not needed. Like $203 ...
    for the cabinets that were fine before we left. DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BECOME SICK FROM BLACK MOLD AND CHARGED FOR THINGS YOU DIDN'T DO.

  • Great Location Great Staff At The Right Price

    My wife and I moved to forest ridge from southern California sight unseen. Doreen and her staff were fantastic and understood what we wanted and our anxiety about relocating to a new city. We were very pleased with the apartment upon arrival it was just as described neat and clean with full size washer and dryer and a nice floor plan and we love the the location. Located in a nice wooded hillside in south Salem, walking distance to Minto Brown park, the Willamette river and the Salem Golf Club is ...
    only 5 minutes away. It is far enough from the city to have that country feel yet downtown is less than ten minutes away. The entire staff including the maintenance team have been great and easy to work with and did I mention the price is well under market (it is) the only reason were leaving is because we bought a house in the area the management even made our lease break a very fair and painless process.

    The staff at Forest Ridge is wonderful. It's easy to see they truly care about the property and the residents. The property itself is a beautiful hillside setting. Easy to get to and from and right across the street from Minto Brown Park. The rents are very reasonable, I found them to be under the average in the area in fact. I would definitely recommend Forest Ridge Apartments to friends and family.

    Forest Ridge is the perfect place to call home. The staff is prompt, courteous and professional. My townhouse is warm and cozy. I haven't had the need for any maintenance, my place was move in ready. The grounds are quiet, clean and pet friendly. We love the secluded neighborhood, and the well maintained landscape of the property. The apartment is comfortable and fits all our needs.   • What's not to love?

    From move in, all the way through our residency so far, Forest Ridge has been wonderful! The ladies in the office are awesome and the grounds are just beautiful! if we ever have a problem maintenance is always prompt and able to fix the issue. Even late at night! If you want an apartment that feels like a home, like you are taken care of... This is where you want to be. They have far exceeded our expectations!

  • Based on How I was treated... SAY NO TO LIVING HERE!

    DON'T DO IT!!!!! We thought all was well when we moved in, we thought the ladies who worked at the front were nice, the facilities, etc. Well we were wrong. We were put in an apartment that you have to go down to, so the front wall and the side wall were technically underground. Well this caused our bedroom to grow MOLD. We had damp carpet which ended up ruining our mattress (yes we are cheap and put it on the ground but it has never been a problem for the past 5 years I have done it). We also ...
    lost about $1000 worth of our possessions in our closet because they were growing fur like mold. The walls and crown molding had it on it. When I went to confront the managers they said "you must have sweat through your mattress" (to make the entire floor damp and grown pink, green, and black mold...I don't think so!) and "your sweaty shoes caused it to grow." They refuse to take ownership that their walls and floors caused it. Talking with a construction friend they mentioned that concrete can saturate itself with ground water and once it is in there it wont get out. All they did was clean the carpets and "treat" the walls affected. Well guess what the mold is back in the closet and we haven't put a single thing back in there. But it was our fault... We have also found mold in the storage closet across the apartment that is again against a wall that is underground. Not impressed with how they handled this situation. Based on how they treated us through this... I would NEVER recommend this apartment to ANYONE!!!!!!!!!

  • Worst. Management. Ever.

    I moved in here after being told by numerous people it was a bad idea and management was terrible. Knowing myself, I moved in anyways because I was impressed with how professional and kind Nicole in the office was. The property was beautiful and I didn't see what was so bad about it so I moved in. Fast forward 6 months later, and boy do I wish I had listened to my friends. Walls are paper thin, I can hear the people above me using their bathroom, yelling at each other, their 2 full size dogs ...
    that are well above the 40lb weight limit jump around and barking, the people next to me throw their cigarette butts all over the ground near my front door and throw parties every other day, there is always a strong odor of weed permeating from their unit. Management must not care or it would have stopped by now. Now onto the real reason I'm writing this review. I was told by a member of the office that I could pay my rent by the morning of the 5th. Now, rarely does this actually happen for me to pay after the 1st, but it did this time, and 1 other time before. 2 days later I receive a notice on my door of a $100 late fee. I promptly call the office and cannot seem to get a hold of them. Not the first time this has happened. I've called about other issues and left voice mails and never received any call back or any sort of indication they got my message. Finally I get a hold of someone, and she says she can't do anything and her boss is the only one who can help me. She says she'll call me back the next day (3/11) when my late fee is due. I tell her this and she says not to worry, she will figure it out. Big surprise, I never hear from them. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday go by with no contact. Then, this morning, Tuesday morning, I come out to a second notice on my door of an outstanding balance. I immediately call the office, same girl as last time answered and I told her I never heard back from her but received another notice. She said it was her friday, and she left a note but guess her boss didn't see it. (This is my problem why?) I tell her I'm not paying it due to one of her workers telling me paying on the morning of the 5th is ok. She transfers me to her supervisor and she is nothing but rude, repetive and interrupts me as I speak. She tells me everyone is trained to say the same thing. Well that's great, but your one employee who doesn't know your own policy told me otherwise so now I'm paying for it? Advice - do not rent here.
