Enjoy living in a spacious, newly remodeled, turn-of-the-century farmhouse situated on 100+ acres just a few miles south of campus (near Veterinary Medicine School). Enjoy sunsets and horses grazing on your wrap-around porch. The farmhouse is a quiet alternative to crowded undergrad campus life designed specifically to create a community for graduate students and post-docs. It is not on a bus line, so you must have a car to consider. We currently have 3 veterinary students and 3 from other departments. We have been housing U of I graduate students, veterinary students and post-docs for over 35 years. The house if fully furnished except for your bedroom. Located on Race Street near the U of I South Farms on the south edge of Urbana. Rent: $650 per month with ALL UTILITIES INCLUDED: heat, electricity, water, garbage, internet, central air conditioning, lawn care, free washer and dryer, and free parking Features include stainless appliances, dishwasher, exposed brick in kitchen, sunny breakfast room, wood floors, wrap-Around Porch with outdoor eating, study room with wood burning stone fireplace, living room with TV, large formal dining room with antique fireplace, sun room/breakfast room, laundry room with free washer and dryer, six separately leased large bedrooms (1 pp/bedroom-unfurnished), plenty of closet space and storage, three shower rooms, three toilet rooms and shared sinks, great views, a fire pit area, space for a hammock, outdoor activities, and free parking. Like them, if you are someone who likes the idea of coming home to a community of peers from a variety of different departments to enjoy a beautiful home on a farm close to campus, enjoying the wrap-around porch and watching grazing horses and beautiful sunsets over the prairie, then this is for you. Tie your hammock between the trees, have a barbecue with housemates on the farm, engage in conversations around the fire pit in summer or the cozy wood burning stone fireplace in the winter. Even though you can see the Assembly Hall on Campus from your porch, all you'll hear are the peaceful sounds of nature. No Smoking/No pets.
