My boyfriend and I have lived here for years now and have had nothing but amazing experiences! We love the amenities and location. SJ is awesome and always so helpful if we need anything.

We love living at GRR! The location is awesome and feels very safe. The apartments are newly built however the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors pretty easily. SJ has always been a help and answers questions when she can. Parking is very limited for guests. Overall recommend living here

Nice place to live, but it’s overpriced. You don’t get what you’re paying, like from most other apartments offer. This is place is just here to make money. They don’t take care of their tenants. Won’t respond back to you unless it’s an easy answer.

Nice but expensive

The apartment is nice but on the pricey side. Thin walls or something but I could hear people talking upstairs and on the patio. The people that mange the apartments doesn't reply to emails and does not communicate with me. I would NOT want to live there again. The interior is pretty nice and that's about it.

I’ve spent the last year at GRR and I moved in right after construction had finished. The residents are nice and even at close-to-full occupancy of the building, it was a nice, clean, quiet place to live. Rent is reasonable and the staff and property management were nice and easy to work with! I had a one bedroom apartment and it was more than enough space. It was also nice to have a washer and drier in the apartment as well.

An enjoyable place to live

Overall, I have had a good experience so far. The apartments are located in a great location in the center of Onalaska, close to access to the Great River State Trail and other local businesses nearby. There is a significant amount of traffic that tends to speed excessively along 35 during rush hour. Thankfully, the apartments are a block off of 35, and it's always very quiet on the other side roads around the property. I am on the side of the building facing the train tracks. there is a beautiful view of the marsh. The trains haven't bothered me too much at night, although if you're a light sleeper I could see how they might be an issue. Personally, I think the view and location is worth the slight inconvenience of the train noise. There were a few minor kinks early on, but that is understandable between the pandemic and opening a brand new building. The property manager is always helpful, accommodating, and friendly, and goes above and beyond to help. The apartments are definitely on the expensive side, but that is unfortunately to be expected with a new building and most apartments in general. There are some areas where I can tell inexpensive furnishings were chosen to save money, such as the window shades and shower fixtures, but it still has all of the basics you would expect. I am also disappointed that the underground garage doesn't have access to any outlets. Not very forward thinking as hybrid and electric vehicles begin to become more common, much less to do something simple like use a vacuum. One other downside is that there also is little to no ventilation in the hallways and stairs above the first floor. While this isn't a big deal when it's colder, I've noticed the air can get really stuffy on a somewhat mild but humid spring day. I'll have to see what it's like during the heat of the summer. Other than a few minor gripes, it's a good place to live. I'm enjoying my time here so far and look forward to continue living here in the near future!

GRR is a Wonderful Place to Live

Living at the GRR has been wonderful. The apartments are spacious and beautiful. I feel very safe with the secured entrances. The management is very responsive to any questions I have or repairs needed. The heated garage in the winter is a real bonus. I love the quick access to the interstate as well as the short drive to downtown La Crosse to get to all shopping, restaurants, and events in the area. backwaters of the Black River for great views and river access from the Great River Landing for quiet river sports. It is also handy to be right at the Great River Trail for easy access to running, hiking, and biking along Lake Onalaska.

Great Location & Staff

I'm so glad to be living here! The one bedroom apartment is so spacious. And being so close to dining and shops are all in walking distance. Plus the Great River bike trail and nature trail is right here . The apartment's manager brightens the day! She truly cares about the residents and is there when you need help or have questions. She's the best!!

Good experience thus far

I moved into the property on 8.1.20 during the apartments opening weekend. Overall, my experience has been good overall. Pros - the apartment is brand new, so all the appliances are new. The location of the apartment is in a good location. There is dining within walking distance, and a trail near Great River Landing. Also, my experience with the staff has been good so far as well. Cons - because the apartment is brand new, there have been some kinks that needed to be worked out early on. When ...
I moved in, the dishwashers weren't installed in the units. However, to the best of my knowledge, all the units had dishwashers within a few days. Also, there has been a lingering issue with one of the water pipes, but usually those issues are addressed reasonably quickly. Neutral - the building is located very close to train tracks. I'm on the side of the building facing the main street, so it isn't as much of a nuisance as the people whose units face the train tracks.

  Ahhh! Yes!!! Bringing a new development online during a pandemic certainly was interesting. The backorders on appliances had us really playing a juggling game - moving appliances from an unrented unit to a rented one. Our maintenance team is amazing and managed to get the job done. Our residents were WONDERFUL and PACIENT and we appreciate all of you. The city of Onalaska worked diligently to get the train horns silenced and we are happy to say they accomplished this task. We are looking forward to spring and the opportunity to really grow closer as a community at Great River Residences.

Modern living with exceptional location!

I’ve really enjoyed renting my apartment here! The location is in close proximity to all major locations surrounding the area- Holmen, West Salem, La Crosse..all a 12 minute drive away! The layout of the apartments are well designed and offer in-unit laundry, high efficiency A/C units, and underground parking! The landlord really cares for the tenants and is constantly looking for any improvement they can provide on their end. I highly recommend!

I have lived at Great River Residences for around 6 months. It is a perfect place to live. Quiet community and great staff who always answer respond to questions quickly. Don't be turned off by the train tracks. The trains do not blow their whistles so it is a non-issue. You are in walking distance to a trail and have an amazing view. Very reasonably priced as well. Great place to live!

I moved into Great River Residence on August 1st, 2020 and have been extremely happy with everything!!! SJ (Property Manager) has been very professional, friendly and accessible! She has gone out of her way to make sure everyone feels included in the GRR community. She even invited folks to Thanksgiving and Christmas with her if anyone didn't have a place to go...who else does that?! I am really looking forward to somewhat of a normal summer to enjoy the location and access that we have here ...
at GRR!!! Btw...I live on the highway side of the building but the trains have never bothered me at all. I actually enjoy them!
