  • An Exquisite Harbor in a Tempest-Tossed Life...

    I've moved quite a bit since the upheaval caused by the pandemic; different states, different apartments in those states, and nothing really worked out. Like for many others, perhaps, things since the pandemic have been pretty unsettled and chaotic. On top of that, there seems to be an inherent disorder, or chaos, to my life, despite my best attempts to right the ship and keep it on an even keel. Things just have not gone very well, though I have managed to at least keep a roof over my head ...
    and, more importantly, over my beloved pets' heads. I chose Saginaw over other places both in Michigan and in other cities/states, and discovered Green Acres Apartments as part of that search. I took a gamble, and rented a unit sight unseen at this apartment complex. My past few times with this experience have been, well, not great, though, again, at least I managed to have a place to live, amazingly enough. I was really worried about this apartment, based on past and present experiences in renting. I was also very, very tired and burned out, and feared that this place would be another storm I would have to weather in my journey to find a place, and a city, I could settle into for a while (and even just to catch my breath). I needn't have worried. Green Acres is the best place I have ever leased in all my 30+ years of renting. I came prepped with an arsenal of cleaning supplies (I used to clean professionally, and have high standards), but the place was so clean, I only used a handful of supplies. Everything really was "freshly painted" and I loved everything about the apartments down to the the cat-friendly large windows and the charming retro feel of the cabinet hardware and the wonderful quirky bathroom. I sat in my living room that first night after my stuff was moved in, had a cup of tea, looked out the tall window that overlooked the lovely courtyard--and felt so calm and at peace. The staff at Green Acres, from the very beginning, have gone above and beyond to help me settle in in several ways--none the least with the welcome box of delectable pastries that were a much-appreciated treat that first day as I tried to restore enough order among the moving boxes to have a place to sleep (and a pathway through the apartment!). I would highly recommend Green Acres as a "safe harbor" place to call home.

    Tenant for 3.5 years. It wasn't the worst experience considering I stayed for that long, but I really hope they have made improvements. The grounds are clean, and the walkways are always clear in the winter. Maintenance was always quick to respond. The pool is a nice perk. The gym is tiny w/ minimal equipment. Being a downstairs neighbor, I had several new tenants above me and surprisingly only had issues with one because they would blast their music so late. The front door to the building never ...
    locked, no peepholes on your apartment door. The intercom was only located on one side of the building, and it was the side people barely used. They only provide a little thumbscrew to lock windows. The AC units are located in the bedroom(s) and it's hard to push air up into the kitchen/living room. In the winter, I would cover my windows with plastic and still couldn't get it warmer than 60*. I had chain smokers for neighbors, which made the hallway and parts of my apartment smell awful, and all management did was buy a glade plug in, which they never came back to refill when it was empty. The cleaners did a mediocre job cleaning the hallways. These apartments are old, so expect bugs. I had tons of centipedes and large black ants, even after spraying home defense in every corner multiple times.

    The staff is incompetent like the other reviews state and they will everything they can as reason to charge more. I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't diligent as I was emailing them that they would've tried to hit me with a late fee on rent. I always had rent early but they ALWAYS cashed late. They also like to claim they never recieved your renter insurance so they can hit you with a noncompliance fee there too. They love to blame you for their own mistakes and treat you like garbage.     They find opportunities to charge more. They never mentioned about non-refundable reconditioning fee of $250 and charged. They charged $25 for providing policy number one day late. They say heat is free but charge $55 per month and the manager is very rude. I took this short term lease for my son and not sure how much more penalty I am going to face in 6 months.

    This is my second year living at Green Acres Apartments. Staff is very friendly and efficient! I feel safe living here, with the security "Buzz In" system. Reason I chose Green Acres was because I was able to move in and keep my two Shih-Tzus with me. I love the pool, and how I have a Boulevard to walk my dogs. I also love how living here is centrally located to shopping, gyms, etc.
