Dog poop and fees

There is an abundance of dog poop especially in the areas they don't have dog bags like the walking path by the dog park. There is also poor water pressure if you are trying to shower at a regular time. The staff is nice but they are not there to help you, make sure you do everything in the lease to the letter of the fine print or you will be paying extra months worth of rent.

My son and his friends often stop by the office after school, and the staff always welcome them warmly, even offering snacks. It’s such a small gesture, but it means the world to us. One word: FLEAS. I moved in 6 weeks ago and have been plagued by a flea infestation left over from the previous owner´s pets (I don´t have pets). There were other problems when I moved in too. The apartment was not ready until 4:30pm on the move-in date, and the carpet was so filthy that it had to be replaced after I moved in. However, the big problem has been the persistent flea infestation.
In the complex management´s defense, they have made efforts to help rid the apartment of fleas. Eric has ...
been great and has had the apartment treated three times, but I am still catching fleas in a trap and picking them off my legs.
Following the second unsuccessful treatment, I requested to be moved to another Hawthorne apartment or be allowed to terminate my lease. This request was denied by the regional manager. So, they treated the apartment a third time, and after returning home following Thanksgiving, I am still finding fleas.
I do not agree with how this was handled by the regional manager. I believe that I should have been allowed to leave after the second unsuccessful flea treatment instead of being left to wallow around in flea poison for a third (and unsuccessful) time.
At this point I have only paid rent twice, and I am already looking forward to my lease ending. Hawthorne´s handling of this on the regional level has left a bad taste in my mouth and tarnished their reputation in my eyes. I only wish I had seen a review like this prior to making the poor choice to rent here.

My daughter and I moved here originally for the school district after my divorce, and it was the best decision I have made in years!! The staff, pool and puppy park was amazing!! The location is close to downtown and the beach, what more could you ask for!!!

The staff at Hawthorne at Murrayville truly goes above and beyond with every single thing that happens on site. They always notify residents of changes within the community and of any new rules that we might have. I love living here and it is truly a place I call home! a hidden gem off the beaten path

This community is such a hidden gem. It is off the beaten path, but walking distance to a grocery store, a local coffee shop across the street the complex bean (and dunkin donuts), and a gas station. Easy access to Cape Fear Community College, and downtown. The clubhouse always has goodies! They have cookies, and snacks, and are always friendly and welcoming!

This is a cute and cozy property in a quaint location with a great staff! Rachel is by far the best property that I have lived at and I have lived at many apartments due to my job and travel requirements. Convenient to Lowe's Foods within walking distance, there is even a Dunkin Donuts within walking distance.

Love this place. It's beautiful and perfect for coastal living. I love that I can walk to Lowes Foods and Dunkin Donuts! So awesome. My kiddos also love the playground. Thank you Hawthorne!

I needed a wheelchair-friendly apartment near my family. I visited 3 such apartments, and was most impressed with the one at Hawthorne at Murrayville! This not only had all of the accessibility features that I needed, but was the most attractive. The entire complex is landscaped beautifully, has great amenities and the staff is warm and extremely helpful. Since this apartment was actually located nearest my family, I feel sure that I was meant to live here :-)
