This was my boyfriend’s and my first apartment, since we were on a budget, we decided to give Hillcrest Village a chance. Unfortunately, the apartment we toured looked nothing like the unit we were given.
The day we picked up our keys, we walked into an apartment with German roaches in multiple areas. It was obvious the building had an infestation, and we dealt with roaches throughout our entire lease.

electricity was on. That wasn’t a one-time issue either—we had multiple A/C problems during our time living there.
Halfway through our lease, I noticed on my Ring camera that maintenance was wearing hazmat suits while clearing out the apartment directly across from ours. A few weeks later, we found bed bugs in our apartment. When I contacted the office, I then learned my neighbor had a bed bug infestation, yet none of the surrounding apartments in the building had been inspected before it spread! Talk about no caring about your residents because you want to keep their money. The only positive thing I can say is that management was always really nice and they did allow us to break our lease because of the situation.
But beyond the infestations, the property itself is just old and poorly maintained. It feels like everything is just painted over instead of actually repaired or updated. The stairs to our apartment were loose and wobbly every time we used them, which never felt safe. We lived on the second floor and our patio floor had gaps so big between the wood pieces that one time my phone fell to my downstairs neighbors patio. I constantly had plumbing issues with our toilet not flushing right as well.
If you’re looking for a clean, well-maintained place to live, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Between the roaches, A/C issues, bed bugs, and overall poor maintenance, this was easily the worst first apartment experience I’ve ever had. These buildings need major renovations—or to be rebuilt entirely—because it’s hard to see where the rent money is even going. So please save yourself, time, and money and do NOT rent here.
