When I called the office saying I had no ac, I did not get the warm and fuzzy feeling that it would be handled quickly, if at all, to be honest. At 630pm, that same day, there is a knock on my door. Eric was looking at the maintenance requests and immediately came over. It was 85 degrees, humid, and miserable. He spent an hour and a half trying to fix it, to no avail. Without a spare on site, he told me he would get a a new one ordered ...first thing in the morning and would keep me posted. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that it would be done. Not one. The next day he told me it was ordered and it would be installed the following day or the day after. (I can't stress the fact how much I appreciate that he didn't over-promise and under-deliver. That's the worst.) I was pleasantly surprised when the company showed up the next day to install the new ac. They were kind, professional, and efficient. The following day, Eric stopped by to check everything out and to make sure I was happy with the ac, and their service. His kindness, empathy, communication, and follow-up made an uncomfortable situation tolerable. Misleading, unprofessional, poor communication
March 8, 2022 - Review from Apartments.comMisleading, unprofessional, and poor communication. I am currently a tenant with Hurwich Farms in South Bend, for nearly 15 months. I am listed as a roommate on said lease. With my lease nearing termination I contacted the office about apartments available for rent at the end of my lease. I was told because I am listed as a roommate I would need to be approved on my own and fill out an application. I did just that. I was charged a 300 dollar "holding fee" for the apartment I was applying for. I ...was told the 300 dollars would go towards my first month rent and deposit due at lease signing. After I was approved I was asked for a move in date. Because I am in a lease currently I can't be in two leases so I was told my roommate would need to provide financials to get approved for the remainder of the lease on their own and do a modification. I explained this wasn't an option. I could pay myself for March and the prorated April or wait until my lease end date. I was told the apartment I applied for was no longer available and that the 300 dollar fee would not be refunded. Within two weeks I saw that same apartment listed as available on their website. I called and was told I would need to pay another 300 dollars to hold another apartment and the first 300 was not going to be used as a lease wasn't signed within two weeks. The office staff was negligent in their communication, professionalism and respect towards a prospective continuing tenant. I will be contacting the BBB. I will file a complaint with every division, on every website. I am a 20 year old hard working female.
