Living at Lake Clearwater Apartments was the clear choice for me when moving to Indianapolis from out of state. I'd been told by my employer to find a place on the Northside, specifically Lake Clearwater Apts if available. I was fortunate and found a ground floor 2 bedroom unit with an attached garage, a real bonus to me. The interior was bright, open, and spacious, the cabinetry and trim work were outstanding, the bathrooms were large as were the closets. The exterior and grounds were ...
beautifully landscaped and maintained to perfection. My particular building was totally quiet with no noisy or rude neighbors. As a single female moving from another state into a new city, I never once felt unsafe in my apartment or on the grounds of the property. I made only one maintenance request and it was handled on the same day.

Lake Clearwater is a great value for the money and I highly recommend living here. I've lived here since 2019 and have upgraded from the one-bedroom apartment to the two-bedroom apartment with attached garage.
Pros:
1) Lake Clearwater's staff office and maintenance staff are all very friendly, highly responsive, and easy to do business with.
2) The apartments are well-maintained. I have very few maintenance problems with my apartment, and have had no serious problems (no bugs, no flooding, no ...
mold, nothing broken). The amenities, landscaping, parking lot, and all shared areas are very well-maintained and kept looking nice.
3) The apartments are getting better all the time. While the buildings and infrastructure are not the newest, Lake Clearwater takes many steps to improve them. While I've been here, they've upgraded to a new color scheme in apartment interiors (paint and countertops) and exteriors (exterior siding and doors), upgraded to all-new GE appliances (ceramic-top stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher), renovated the leasing office, installed Amazon Hub for tenant packages, and installed energy-efficient LED lights and Nest thermostats throughout the complex.
4) The apartments include great features that are hard to find in other Indianapolis apartments, such as valet trash service, in-unit washers/dryers, garages, fireplaces, key-code entry, and fiber internet. Pets are allowed too.
5) The neighborhood is great. It’s safe and close to everything. It's a short drive (or even walk!) to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, retail, The Fashion Mall, nature areas, interstate and bus access.
6) Monthly apartment events are a nice bonus. They usually include free food and drinks, and are a nice opportunity to meet your neighbors and Lake Clearwater staff.
Cons:
1) The walls and windows are somewhat thin. Noise and cold are occasionally issues. However, it's no worse than other places I've lived in within the Indianapolis area. I’ve been able to work comfortably from home since I arrived here in 2019, and am able to sleep fine at night.
2) The vinyl-wood floors and ceramic cooktop are beautiful, but they both require careful maintenance and cleaning to ensure they stay looking nice and don't get scratched. Not everyone may be willing or able to do so much upkeep.
3) The smoke alarms are very sensitive and sometimes go off during cooking, especially when using the oven.
4) The GPS on some phones has trouble navigating Lake Clearwater.

They do so much for upgrades on the property, respond to maintenance requests lightning fast, and are very nice, friendly people in general. The apartments are upgraded and have nice hardwood floors. I’m recommend these to anyone !

The sound insulation is too poor. I can hear voices upstairs every night. Maintenance can be faster, nothing more, my kitchen cannot cook. Has not been repaired. Parking will give you a headache. I don't know when the gym will end. Relatively safe, but everything else is fine!

As I sit here with my noise cancelling head phones in (an investment I had to make because of this place) I can still hear my upstairs neighbors every move. In part they are just incredibly inconsiderate, but also in part to the age of the building. Every step, every weak point in the wood, every TV, every cabinet closing... you WILL hear it. If you live here, you are either at the mercy of someone else’s noise, or you are making someone’s life hell. I’ve never lived in such a noisy place with ...
thin walls. I am woken up by my neighbor every morning at 5:30- I can hear him walking around (can tell where in the apartment he is), using the bathroom, and even talking at normal volume. Unfortunately for him (and myself) I know his schedule to a tee. Parking sucks, especially if you’re near building 1. No area to walk your dogs if they need actual exercise. They came in and replaced the nice shower head with a cheap “energy efficient” 1 mode model. The loss of sleep is more than enough of a reason to stay away. I lived at Lakeshore Apts down the street for a few years, not sure why I downgraded for this place. This place left a flyer at everyone’s door to leave a review, i thought it was comical they mentioned “you can’t pick your neighbors” in said flyer, like they knew this was coming. Well, here’s your review. Taco and marg nights don’t mean much when you don’t feel at home here.

I’ve lived here for 2 years now and don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. The upkeep around the apartment is amazing. Maintenance is so fast too! Any ticket that’s submitted is fixed within a day. You can’t be the location either. Walking distance to bars and restaurants and right off of 465!

Best Apartment Experience thus Far

This community is the best one of the best around. We’ve lived in the same area before and in Carmel, but this place beats them all. The staff is amazing & super responsive to any type of requests. Our manager Rodge is especially awesome and plans monthly community events, that are actually really cool, like pool parties, tacos & margs, etc. Most of the residents are 25-35, so it’s a cool fun vibe, especially in the summer time. shopping within walking distance. The only negative I would say is that the apartments aren’t as upgraded as some others nearby, but are well-built, well-maintained, and have charming details, so all of that makes up for the lack of upgrades. Would recommend living here to anybody & everybody, you’ll love it!
