Uninhabitable and unsafe living conditions

I would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to look elsewhere. During the short time we lived there (less than a month) we experienced issues that no tenant should have to deal with. The apartment flooded, and the problem was not addressed promptly, resulting in damage to our personal belongings. We also encountered mold, roaches, electrical outlets that did not work, a dryer that did not work properly, and other maintenance problems that made the unit feel unsafe and ...
uninhabitable.
What was even more concerning was the overall environment. During the month we lived there, there appeared to be frequent drug-related activity around the property, and there was a fatal shooting at the complex in June. Those events left us feeling that the property was not a safe place to live.
To make matters worse, we are still waiting on the reimbursement we were promised because of the condition of the apartment. Despite repeated attempts to get answers, communication has been extremely disappointing.
Our experience was unacceptable from start to finish. Between the unsafe living conditions, the serious safety concerns, the lack of timely repairs, and the unresolved reimbursement, I cannot recommend this property.

Constant trouble

I’ve been living here since May and it’s been constant issues. When we moved in there was an insane wasp infestation right outside our front door that took quite a while to get resolved. And then the next month we found out our mailbox key didn’t work and we got the runaround for weeks about getting the new key.
THEN we started having issues with our cooling and they just kept coming out to reset the breaker and it would last for a few hours and then bust again… oh and meanwhile this whole time ...
our water in our shower, the temp is reversed. The hot water side puts out cold water and vice versa. When this was brought up they told us it was incorrectly installed but did nothing to fix it.
And now in the past few months they’ve introduced an ai assistant called maya. You can call the front office, and it leads to maya. You call the 24/7 EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE LINE and it leads to maya. You cannot get a hold of an actual person. One time the city shut off water for a main pipe fix, and whenever we called it would ring once and hang up.
And now, it’s been snowing and icy and freezing for like three days. And our heater is barely working. They came out at the beginning and said it was because we had the heat on on instead of auto…. Um okay. Now it’s not working again
Maintenance was just here and told us that our heater isn’t working because we have our heater set to 73. And that 76 is where it has to be to work. When the COMPLEX themselves emailed to have it set at 70. We showed him that and he said the complex was wrong. Why would 3 degrees make our heater stop working entirely?? Then he says he was here Friday and nobody was here and our heater wires were melted. Uh, someone was here all day Friday, and NOBODY showed up. He said there’s picture proof in the rental app and that we could pull it up. We pulled it up and there was nothing. He then said it hadn’t been posted yet. Which is it? We got in an argument and he called his boss to prove to us he was here Friday and lied to his boss that we had our heater set to 66. Then he called US liars to his boss and hung up the phone. When his boss called back we were told we would be getting to talk to him when he’s back at the complex. This is the worst complex I’ve ever been at. Oh? And the best part? His boss literally never confirmed that anyone was here Friday.

I loved living here it was a great first apartment for me and my fiance to move in together. It had some minor inconveniences like the closet being small or the washer being kind of cheap but its such a great deal for the price. Especially for where it is, Mckinney is growing so quickly. I worked at Target and I was able to afford this on $15 an hour. I used to live in Denton at a college apartment where I had to take my trash out and walk downstairs for laundry so having an in unit washer dryer ...
and being able to just set out my trash at night felt like a luxury! The staff has been nothing but kind to me here even when I had to move out early I wasn't price gouged to leave.
