Beware of Deceptive Practices at Legacy at Fox Valley Apartments – Move-In Day Disaster (March 12, 2025)
On March 12, 2025, I moved into Legacy at Fox Valley Apartments, expecting a clean, well-maintained unit as promised during my tour. Instead, I was met with severe issues that made the unit uninhabitable from day one.
False Advertising & Poor Move-In Conditions
Before signing the lease, I was shown well-maintained units and assured that all apartments were identical in cabinetry, ...
appliances, and condition—this was a blatant lie. On move-in day, I encountered:
• Filthy Conditions: Oily residue and dirt inside cabinets, grease buildup in the oven, and stained carpets with visible spots.
• Poor Maintenance: The kitchen sink was leaking, with wilted wood underneath, indicating prior water damage that was never properly repaired.
• Loose Cabinets & Fixtures: Cabinets were poorly installed or barely attached, and fixtures throughout the unit were unstable.
• Dryer Fire Hazard: The lint trap was full of debris, showing it had never been cleaned—posing a serious fire risk.
• Structural Neglect: The balcony wood was so rotted that it broke off during the walk-through. Management failed to disclose this issue beforehand and only revealed that repairs wouldn’t happen for months.
• Missing Window Screens: Several windows throughout the unit had no screens, preventing proper ventilation and insect control.
• Pest Concerns: Within hours of moving in, I spotted centipedes in the hallway and ants near the windows, despite claims of preventative pest control.
No Real Solutions, No Accountability
Despite giving Legacy ample opportunity to resolve these issues, they failed to act promptly or offer a real-time solution. No comparable units were available, and no immediate repairs were made. Instead, I was left with an apartment that did not meet basic move-in standards.
If you’re considering renting here, beware. They will show you pristine model units, make empty promises, and leave you stuck in a unit that does not reflect what was advertised. Save yourself the frustration—look elsewhere!
