Still waiting for my money

On January 22, I came across a cute and affordable apartment at this place and quickly submitted an application which, through their process, also required I submit a deposit. I then spoke to a local police officer, who informed me that a ground floor apartment in that area as a young female would not be advisable.
Before I was even approved, I withdrew my application and asked for my money back. I have since been calling them at least once a week (getting them on the phone at least once a week; ...
half the time nobody answers) and getting the run around - that they're waiting for the manager to be in, waiting for approval, waiting for the check to come, etc.
On Feb 11, I received a system email that the refund check was approved. I called them again, and was told that they're just waiting for the check to come in the mail and then will call me to come get it. It is now March 13, and it has been over a month. There has been no sign of a check. I'm still waiting for my money back and will continue to hound them until I receive it, but new applicants beware that business at The Lockwood seems shady.
