It took 100 years to build this place. In 1923, Birmingham's Municipal Market opened to the public, and the landscape of our city was changed forever. Since then, this place has served as an automobile equipment company, a bowling alley, the Southeast regional offices of the Social Security Administration, and The American Red Cross. Today, Market Lofts on 3rd is a mixed-use redevelopment of that storied building - a 140,000-square-foot living space consisting of 192 residential apartments and 8,000 square feet of commercial space.
