Complex in disrepair and management is very rude and ignores residents!
July 23, 2025Overall horrible! I will list each item separately but there are many on top of many. In this post I will talk about one of many items that are in disrepair! The computer / business room is a complete joke. I have had an apartment here for about 9 years. The last several times I visited the computer room to print something quickly, 3 of the 4 computers have not worked and the laser printer was broken or low on toner and would not print. It they don’t want a room that works, they should have a ...room at all as an amenity. If they are going to have this amenity then it should work!!! The workout equipment sticky and no TV and sometimes doesn't work. The WiFi does not work. TV's around common areas either don't work or you cannot change the channel and I could go on and on and on.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Good value, but poor service
September 16, 2024Reasonably good value for money, but towed my car without ever trying to contact me - or even letting me know they did it. To be fair, I did let my registration expire, so they did have the right to do so. And they say they put a note on it - so they did meet the terms of the lease. But not how I like to come back to town. Perhaps I’m unreasonable to expect the courtesy, but a warning call, text, or email would have been greatly appreciated. If not before you tow it, then at least after? Let ...me know why my car isn’t in the parking lot, so I don’t have to wonder around and call to see if it’s stolen. It’s the little things. They also have a weird mail policy, where everything needs to be sent to Tempe first. They will power trip about it. But I can forgive that.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
An absolute no go.
September 9, 2023This property fit all of my criteria and I was ready to find a unit and move in as soon as possible. However this place does not respond to calls or emails for prospective residents so I can’t imagine how poorly they treat actual residents. A Disastrous Experience at The Moderne
June 14, 2023During my two-year residency at The Moderne apartment complex, my experience as a tenant was far from satisfactory due to several significant issues: A drastic management change resulted in a decline in the overall resident experience. The new management company's approach was subpar compared to the previous company. The initially advertised rent prices were deceptive, with hidden fees adding significant monthly costs for tenants. High vacancy and Airbnb usage created an uncomfortable living ...environment, with a constant stream of strangers and potential disruptions. Poorly executed changes to payment methods led to residents incurring hefty late fees due to lack of communication. Unjustified cleaning fees were imposed, with additional charges for deep cleaning upon lease disposition. An unreasonable policy of charging tenants for lightbulb replacements, which should be the responsibility of the management. The inexperienced manager failed to address resident concerns effectively, exacerbating issues faced by tenants. The management displayed a troubling lack of responsiveness regarding lease renewals, providing little assistance or information. In conclusion, my experience at The Moderne, particularly under the new management, was filled with disappointment and frustration. The management change, payment method disruption, unjustified cleaning fees, unreasonable lightbulb charges, inexperienced manager, unresponsiveness regarding lease renewals, misleading rent pricing, and high vacancy with Airbnb usage all contributed to a deteriorating resident experience. Considering these factors, I strongly advise against choosing The Moderne as a place of residence under the current management.Property Manager Responded

Can I give a zero star?
December 18, 2021Luxury apartment that dared called themselves “luxury”. Constantly increasing rent and removing amenities throughout my 2 years of living here. Staff is rude and unhelpful. They will make living here a living hell. Can’t wait for my lease to end. Do not believe the pictures on the website or the events that they claimed to have. They will constantly nickel and dime you on everything. It’s not worth the headache. Especially for a place that says they’re a luxury apartment. Emails go unanswered. ...Things go unfixed for years. Spend ridiculous amount of money on things that make the place uglier every day and ignored things that actually matter. I actually had a conversation with them today and they said that amenities are NOT A PART OF THEIR RENT. And told us to expect that things like the gym, the pool, and anything else will continue to disappear over the next months or years. Avoid this place at all cost.Property Manager Responded

Look for something else !
November 5, 2018As excited as I was to move in I couldn't wait to move out!! Yes, the location is perfect and the pool is beautiful. But BEWARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS with living here!!! With as much as they charge for rent, you would expect common building maintenance would come along with it. Nope! The hallways are full of blown out lights, old smelly carpet, walls and stairwells that have seen better days. It's great that they advertise being pet-friendly, but the laziness and complete disregard of some tenants ...with their pets become very evident. Be prepared to be bombarded with overwhelming urine and pet waste smells around entrance doors. Of course being that The Moderne is Located in old town I expected some noise from time to time. But having to deal with an upstairs neighbor who worked at a club and listening to her boyfriend and her stomp, drop and throw things on the floor at 3 in the morning and having a lazy management team who did absolutely nothing about the numerous complaints. Giving me excuses even after security and video proof of what I had to listen to every night(had to buy earplugs). You'll hear everything, if you really want to live here spend the extra money to be on the top floor. In regards to the management, its a joke! Good luck getting any issues or concerns addressed this goes for repairs as well. Before moving out the gave me 3 different prices on my prorated rent for that last month well after paying the last quoted amount they still screwed it up and decided to take it out of my pet deposit. I still have friends who live here and run into the same if not more issues here. The Scottsdale and Phoenix area offers so many other options for a great apartment or home to rent. Highly Recommend, except the noise
July 25, 2018The really enjoy the vast majority of my time living at the Moderne, with a few minor exceptions. My initial leasing experience was great- Sundy is very nice, and made me feel immediately at home and not pressured to rent. The amenities are outstanding- beautiful pool and hot tub area, countless grills and outdoor activities, and a pretty legit gym. But beware- if you want a quiet, relaxing Saturday afternoon at the pool- this is not the place for you (I will come back to noise). The underground ...parking is unbeatable. It sets the bar high for other apartment complexes. The apartment itself is perfect for me. The finishing are great quality, it is clean, and the size feels comfortable for a one bedroom. I have had a few minor issues in need of maintenance, but all were immediately fixed and haven’t had anything presist. Which leads to an inevitable downfall- the noise. I live on the first floor, so upstairs noise is to be expected, but it sounds like this person above me is in a marching band, every single time she walks around her house. I know every move of her daily routine, because I can hear each step she takes around her house. She also vacuums every Sunday, like clockwork, for about 2 hours, so no chance for a Sunday afternoon nap or quiet time. My nextodor neighbor on one side is quiet, but not clean. She let her dog poop on her patio until there wasn’t an inch of cement left showing- which didn’t lead to a pleasant smell either. My other neighbor is a college student that throws parties most every night of the week, so as a working professional, it is hard to get a good nights sleep, unless I call into the overnight security to ask her to turn her music down. There is also a lot of hallway noise. 90% of the day, it is quiet- but when it’s loud, it’s extremely loud. This complex seems more like a high priced college dorm, than the luxury apartment I was looking for. Be cautious of your lifestyle, and if partying in style is for you, then the Moderne is for you.Property Manager Responded

Beware
December 15, 2015Potentially nice apartments but beware! The hard wood floors are nice to have in your apartment, but if there's an apartment above you, you will hear every step and every little thing that drops on the floor because the wood makes everything so loud. I moved in and had a nonfunctioning appliance and its been over a month and they are still "awaiting parts" to get it repaired.. Every time I ask about it they say they will call the company and "follow up" but then not once have I gotten an update ...from them. Every time they pass the buck and say they're going to get right on it but then never call you and tell you what they found out. They called me a week after I moved in and said they made an error on calculating my move in amount and I owed them an extra $100 dollars. Packages are delivered to the main office and management just sent out an email saying they are getting too many packages and they may start not accepting any more (the apartment complex isn't even full yet).
