July 10, 2025I’ve been renting here for 6 months and it continues to disappoint. The property is over 25 years old. Everything is falling apart. For example, I have had at least 15 service calls for heating and cooling. It doesn’t heat in the winter past 62, I was told to turn on the fireplace as the workaround. It doesn’t cool in the summer below 80. Management supplied two window units and plenty of excuses. Now all three AC units run constantly to keep it at 77. Again, no solutions, just excuses. ...They’d say, it’s unusually hot this summer, your apartment is larger than others. This place started off disappointing and kept up unfortunate reputation. A great place go live
August 2, 2021We moved out of state and chose this place because it had a garage and was pet-friendly. I am so happy we ended up here. I can walk to Target and Publix if I feel like it but it's quiet and safe. The neighbors are great. Maintenance and office staff are great. I can't say enough good things!Property Manager Responded

April 30, 2020We have been in a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath at Monticello at Powhatan for several months now and absolutely LOVE it! The layout is just what we needed. The office staff is so friendly and helpful and the community is perfect. We have wonderful neighbors and we walk our dogs daily throughout the beautiful community! The amenities are top notch too. April 30, 2020Wonderful community! I have been here since January 2020. Not your typical "Apartment Complex". You're not going up flights of steps and down long hallways to get to your front door. Amazing Property!
July 3, 2013I've lived at MOPOW for a year now and I haven't had any problems that were not taken care of. Things wear out and need replacement or storms cause problems that need a little more work than others but that happens anywhere you live. The difference is the maintenance guys always get to it within a timely manner. Not only do they do it in a timely manner, they do it will a smile on their faces. They love their jobs and are happy to fix anything, even change out a light bulb. The girls in the ...office are also wonderful. You can call and yell at them all you want and they will still be nicer to you than any other complex around Williamsburg. Residents constantly go in there throughout the day just to see how the girls are doing and what they are up too. The staff at MOPOW makes this place much better than any of the newer apartments around town. Each and every one of the staff goes out of their way to help the residents get full satisfaction. MOPOW's apartments are great, yes some of the stuff is outdated but they work and MOPOW slowly updates things as needed. They are well sized apartments that are beautiful inside as well as the outside. The amount of money you pay for rent gets you a beautiful apartment, gorgeous landscape, a wonderful pool, lake view, the best staff around, and the best location. It’s also one of the safest places. I grew up where we didn't lock the doors during the day and could play outside all day as kids on 55 acres of our land. I feel that safety here when at first the thought of moving to an apartment I didn't feel safe. MOPOW also has a courtesy officer which makes it even more comfortable to live here. Monticello at Powhatan is located behind the Monticello shopping center and next to Powhatan Secondary. You can walk to Target, Martin's, and many more. You are a few minutes’ drive from all the new shopping centers. Wal-Mart Market is being built right down the road so you will never have to go to the other side of town. Even with all of this in close proximity there isn't much noise. Maybe one day MOPOW will upgrade with a dog park or have more things for residents to do inside the clubhouse. However, there are walking trails through Powhatan Secondary and Kidsburg across is a huge playground with basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and a paved walking track around. Monticello gets to know their residents and have fun hanging out with them by having monthly parties for residents with food, games, and great prizes! Overall, I would recommend Monticello at Powhatan to everyone I know and even people I don't know. Monticello at Powhatan has everything you need. Great location in a quiet neighborhood
May 25, 2013I lived here for about 18 months. The location is great. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. New Town is just a 2 minute drive away. And you can get to W&M in about 5 minutes. My unit had an attached garage which was really handy. The office staff is very nice and the maintenance staff is too. These apartments aren't cheap, but compared to what else is available in the area, they are worth it.Review from Apartments.com
