Money snatchers, Contract threateners and Super Unhelpful

Exploited my urgency during move-in and allocate a super dirty apartment without give chance to select for once despite of many available free units. I was threatened for contract breach since day 1 and forced me paying rent and utility for vacant place for 8 months without giving me option to break the lease. Only good is gym.

When the non-student roommate selected for me began to hotbox the entire apartment and I asked him to stop, he started leaving piles of food mixed with razor blades around the apartment for my dog to find. When I reported my roommate trying to kill my dog to Onyx, they ignored the situation. I am now in the process of leaving this godforsaken complex. Other highlights include people smoking crack pipes on their balconies, people catcalling and spitting on girls, drag racing in the parking lot, ...

and constant unenforced noise and smoking issues.

I’ve been living at Onyx Apartments in Urbana for a while now, and overall, it’s been a positive experience. The location is excellent, with easy access to campus and nearby amenities, which is super convenient for students. The apartments themselves are modern, well-maintained, and offer good-sized rooms with nice finishes. The management team has been responsive to maintenance requests, and the community offers great amenities, like the gym and study spaces, which are always a plus. Onyx also ...

has a good community atmosphere, which makes it feel welcoming. However, I did experience some roommate issues during my stay, and while the management offers mediation services and transfer options, navigating those processes can be a bit slow and costly (with fees for transfers or relet). That said, the staff is understanding and willing to work with tenants to find solutions. Overall, I’d recommend Onyx Apartments for anyone looking for a convenient, well-located, and modern place to live in Urbana, especially students.
